When Yanks like you & Siran post crap like this: Oh, and I learned about some atrocities done by the British, during the war, to our pows. Putting them on derelict British ships in the NY harbor, chained together with little to no food and diseases running rampant. Shame on you! ;)Expect replies that show up your errors. A beauty of a reply was Andersonville. Funny how you two bite hard when those errors are displayed for all to see. So you continue with your mantras, the rest of us will continue to enjoy the chuckles :-) |

Which you bastardised because you wanted nothing to do with the "old country"And you probably need another ten years before you will understand a majority of the variations in Europe. The variations aren't even Country to Country. |

What have old relations between Britain and the US with US gun problem today? Which is why I was amazed he really wrote his response, and not only, actually posted it. |

Where do you get off saying we have the "right to shoot each other"? Are you insane? Or are you just putting in you shilling's worth of crap? Oh I don't know where I got that impression, maybe it was this little gem you wrote in the same post We do not have to rely on a piece of paper held up in front of an intruder into our homes to tell the intruder that he cannot use the gun he is flashing around. A 9mm or even a 45ACP will discourage the intruder much better. And the Police force says, don't shoot to maim, shoot to kill. The rest of what you wrote was some ancient drivel about how you managed to kick our arses with the help of the French while we were fighting a World War elsewhere, and about our uncivil treatment of traitors held in captivity, you see as far as our Government of the day was concerned, during that period of unrest, to us at least, you were British and Traitors to the Crown/State. While we're at it, lets just apportion blame here at that time in history; universal suffrage wasn't in existence, even in the US, and as a consequence, less than 5% of the British Public were entitled to vote in UK Elections, so your 'beef' wasn't even with the British Population, and while you may be anti monarchy, the UK back then was a Constitutional Monarchy, the elected Parliament had Executive Powers and ran the country, since 1689. So while you may think you acted against the tyranny of a King, who was rather unwell at the time, or perhaps against the British in general, all you were really fighting against was an unrepresentive Government elected by rich people. Most people were too poor to care, or had no real knowledge or interest in what was going on. Indeed, you might fondly remember that the Founding Fathers were escaping religious intolerance and did so from England, but even this is wrong, the Puritans were leaving because they were intolerant of religious tolerance prevalent in the UK, and Netherlands, the Puritans wanted to establish a colony of religious intolerance in the New World, and the Port of Amsterdam was glad to see their backs when they left the European mainland on their leaking ship bound for the Americas, which was leaking so badly they had to enter an English Port and buy another ship, and then finally feck off. Doesn't quite have the charming re-tell when the actual history is quoted does it? Anyway, its ALL ancient history, and I and my country, nor its present Government, are not personally responsible, or indeed give a flying feck about it, other than correcting the less informed. So you take your 'shame' elsewhere, no fecker wants to know about it, especially when two orders of magnitude prove a point about why the bullets fly. |

t'was said the 'ist's don't get their own 'ism. and how this thread descended proves it beyond any doubt. seems the YAP'n here says the 'ist's are afraid of their own shadows. Must be a terrible way to live. Perhaps even more wretched than things that live under bridges. In any case too bad the USA doesn't have sensible mental health treatments available for low to no cost. Seems like a large number of its people need them. Oh, and until they are cured of their irrational fears, they likely should be banned for gun ownership. Or do you think people who have irrational fears should be out walking about with AR-15's? |

Hi moomin... There has been some confusion regarding "The United States and Great Britain are two countries separated by a common language." Well whats really differs the UK from the US is the use of firearms both by the police and the public. For instance https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_use_of_firearms_in_the_United_Kingdom |

Perhaps our Culture, unlike the British. Could be described as a Cowboy Culture. You seems to have a lot of cows over there :) Anyway. One can also compare with Sweden, which is one of the countries with the highest number of firearms per capita in the world. The number of deaths in Sweden has increased by 500 per cent in twelve years According to the police authority, "only" 8 killings occurred across the country in 2006. Six years later, 2012, 12 killings occurred. Last year, 43 people were killed in shooting in Sweden, which is more than five times more than 2006. Police officers themselves testify that there has been a tougher climate among criminals, described as more "easily offended" than they used to be. Now, in three quarters of the killings, both victims and criminals are involved. Therefore, the public does not need to worry about getting more firearms to "protect" themselves. BTW When I was a kid I was also a cowboy but without a gun. Only the farmer had some in case the animals had to be emergency slaughtered. |

Perhaps our Culture, unlike the British. Could be described as a Cowboy Culture. "Do 500,000 of your people carry concealed handguns in public? " No. It's illegal. And if the guns are legal they should ALWAYS be unloaded and dismantled. http://survivinglifeinsweden.blogspot.se/2012/12/swedish-gun-laws-yes-there-are-many.html There are 33 times more Americans then Swedes. I have adjust the figures to show how it would look like if US had the same gun culture as Sweden. According to the police authority, "only" 264 killings occurred across the country in 2006. |

There are 33 times more Americans then Swedes. You mean other killings involving other weapon than guns? |

In the UK, if you want/need to renew your shotgun license you need to apply about 3 months before the present one runs out. I don't own a shotgun, but do help on the farm that is about 100 yds (meters) down the lane, when required. |

American cowboy culture? A Michigan man was arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot and kill CNN employees. "Fake news. I'm coming to gun you all down,†the man told a CNN operator, according to court documents. He allegedly later called CNN again, saying, "I'm smarter than you. More powerful than you. I have more guns than you. More manpower. Your cast is about to get gunned down in a matter of hours." "I am coming to Georgia right now to go to the CNN headquarters to f---ing gun every single last one of you,†he said. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/01/22/us/michigan-man-arrested-cnn-threats/index.html |

Greetings, School violence only happens in the U.S.A. And again, only in the U.S.A. Oh yes, only in the U.S.A. That is just a piddling few. I saw a list of 36 countries around the planet that have school violence happening. I say: Stop bashing MY country for what happens in your own. ;) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Greetings, Incidents like those you mentioned happen everyday in every country. http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0024/002469/246970e.pdf Only in the US are there multiple gun related incidents, so far nearly one every two days. |

Greetings, I hope you know there is a lot of student exhange programs in the US with students from countries all over the world. Should the students bring guns or perhaps assualt rifles to the US so they could "protect" themself? |

Greetings, I didn't see anything mentioning firearms in any of those links there so they're irrelevant. When you people over there can put a stop to this insanity then we won't have reason to point out your stupidity. ;-) Cheers. |

The stupidity continues in cowboy land. Yes, perhaps one day they will teach how to be a parent as a mandatory class. |

Unfortunately, The Left and Progressives have stopped all discussions regarding the individual's responsibility for bad parenting and dysfunctional families. Which leads to crime and violence. So you mean that it's the parents bad parenting that is the fault that so much crime and violence exists among the people that are poor and living in an alienation. And. A Social Welfare State also promotes the Dysfunctional Family That's nonsense. If so, we who lives in the Nordic Countries in Europe, would be be VERY Dysfunctional. |
