Potato Photo Sells for More Than $1M: Reports

A European man bought a photo of a potato—an organic Irish spud—for more than $1 million.

The potato photo, simply called “Potato #345,” sold for 1 million euros last year. It was shot by renowned celebrity photographer Kevin Abosch, who has taken photos of Malala Yousafza, Yoko Ono, and others.

Now THAT'S a poker face! Dead gambler embalmed and propped up at the table for final game of cards with family and friends

The dead body of a Puerto Rican man has been embalmed and placed seated on a poker table alongside friends and family.

Henry Rosario Martinez died aged 31 on January 19 in his home town of Barceloneta in the northern side of Puerto Rico.

The cause of death was alcohol consumption mixed with the taking of prescription drugs.

Sounds as if he's started the embalming process before he eventually shuffled out of play

Photographer Kevin Abosch about his customer.
“We had two glasses of wine and he said, ‘I really like that’. Two more glasses of wine and he said: ‘I really want that.’
I wonder how much this pic costs.

It's quite noticeable that some Moderators haven't got a green star, does that not seem incongruous?

That comment is beneath you.

First-Ever Meteorite Death Reported In India

February 9, 2016 | by Jonathan O'Callaghan

An Indian man may be the first person in recorded history to have been killed by a meteorite. Identified only as Kamaraj, the man – a bus driver – was killed on Saturday at the Bharathidasan Engineering College near the town of Natrampalli in the Vellore district in southern India.

The cause of death was an explosion, which also injured three others and smashed nearby windows. Initially it was thought to be a blast from a bomb, but forensic and bomb experts found no explosive substances at the scene.

“We can rule out the possibility of any terror angle or sabotage,” a police official told The Hindu. “Not a single ingredient pertaining to any kind of explosive was found at the site. We suspect it to be a meteorite fall.”

A stone found at the impact site, which left a small crater 1.2 meters (4 feet) deep in the ground, is currently being analyzed by scientists. The blast occurred early on Saturday, with Kamaraj being declared dead when taken to a hospital. It’s not clear if he was killed by the initial impact, or the resultant blast.

Could have been the shockwave or fragmentation from the blast itself, an autopsy would say more.

First-Ever Meteorite Death Reported In India

February 9, 2016 | by Jonathan O'Callaghan

An Indian man may be the first person in recorded history to have been killed by a meteorite.

I heard on the news that there was one previous death from a meteorite, in 1825, and also in India.

Two of the most hated forms of governing are 1) dictatorships and 2) committees. Which one is worse?

Most Americans have no experience with a real Dictatorship, or should I say an Autocrat, a person in power who rules by decree, who has no Congress, like an Emperor does.

Autocrat

NOUN

a ruler who has absolute power.
synonyms: absolute ruler · dictator · despot · tyrant
someone who insists on complete obedience from others; an imperious or domineering person.

No President has ever had absolute power granted by Congress, Congress is there, as are the Courts, checks and balances are a part of the Government, who represents the American People as a whole...

Oh. Probably isn't stepping on people then.
How about Shiva, I seem to remember Shiva destroys things... like the universe.

In the last post I put two pictures, and I used a computer to do it and I could see both with the computer. But now that I am back to needing to use my phone again, I can only see one picture and the other just shows as a broken icon, just like that rabbit-cat picture I could not see on my phone before. So some day I will find out what is different about them.

I see both. It might have to do with the down load speed of your phone.
Or Shiva playing with you.

Oh great, now I have one of thr Big Three gods in India, the god of destruction, after me. Couldn't I just have Ganesha squish me? Then there would be a Mojo patty left to feed the rats in that rat temple. But Shiva would atomize me, maybe reduce me to quarks or neutrinos...
