HI. My frequency, time, power graph is showing nothing even though the screen saver seems to be showing the crunching of data. Does anyone know why this might be? I'm trying to post a screen grab into this text box but there doesn't seem to be a user friendly way to do that. Any help would be great, on both matters. Many thanks. |

There appears to be a problem with the GPU of your computer. Looking at your results all of the work units crunched on the GPU have been marked as "Error while computing" It might be better to place a question under the community button above and then message boards then Number Crunching. That is the area that gets the most viewing and where you are more likely to get an answer to both the issue of why your display isn't working and why you GPU is throwing errors. This area doesn't get as many visitors. Unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with the Intel GPU to help you. Sorry Zalster |

The problem is with the drivers of your iGPU. Part of the OpenCL component does not always work with the graphics here at Seti. Plenty of others with iGPUs have posted about that seeing this problem. But then at least one person posted he got it working as well, you can try what he wrote. As for the iGPU only returning errors, I have a doubt it's fully OpenCL capable. My mother has a laptop with similar Celeron and unknown HD Graphics, it's not very fast by itself, so running Seti on it will give all kinds of trouble. I never even tried. Running work on the CPU is probably fine, as long as you cool extra, but don't try running running it on the iGPU anymore. Best edit the project preferences and uncheck "Use Intel GPU?", before saving the prefs. @Zalster, there is totally no use pointing everyone to the Number Crunching forums. If you don't know the answer and you do not want to spend some time looking into it possibly looking for an answer, then just do not answer. There is nothing that says that you always need to leave an answer, even if you do not know how to help out. And else, someone will come by within 24 hours and help out. For me the Q&A forums are always the place to start, just as they have been for the past 13 years. If the administrators/moderators wanted everyone to post at the higher forums, they'd have given the possibility to do so by now. So I for me wish you'd stop telling everyone whose answer you don't know, that no one comes here, answers here, looks here and that everyone should just (shoo go away) post at NC. It isn't very friendly. If you feel so strict about it, click the red-x and ask a moderator to move the person's post. |

Ok, you and I both know that's not always the case. Scanning alot of these thread you see posts the never were answered or were answered months after the initial post. Second, you also know other than yourself and maybe 2 others, this area isn't visited that often. If the administrators/moderators wanted everyone to post at the higher forums, they'd have given the possibility to do so by now. Again, you are aware that this isn't high on their agenda with things to need to be looked at. Their time is better spend on other high priority items. And moderators are volunteers, who for the most part are busy running down people deliberately causing trouble on the forums. So I for me wish you'd stop telling everyone whose answer you don't know, that no one comes here, answers here, looks here and that everyone should just (shoo go away) post at NC. It isn't very friendly. If I point someone to NC it's only because they stand a better chance of getting a correct response to their question in a timely manner. (refer to my first statement.) Otherwise they may get no response at all. And I never look down at anyone who comes looking for help. We all need to learn get along with each other. I've said my peace |

Ok, you and I both know that's not always the case. Scanning alot of these thread you see posts the never were answered or were answered months after the initial post. I will always try to answer when I have the time, and the knowledge. Even if it's the same question that's been repeated for the umpteened time. Second, you also know other than yourself and maybe 2 others, this area isn't visited that often. Which ought to be enough. It's not as if it's so busy here that we need 15 people in rotation stepping on each other's fingers. Again, you are aware that this isn't high on their agenda with things to need to be looked at. Their time is better spend on other high priority items. I've sent in a couple of low-priority small bugs in to the admins over the past week. They've all been fixed by Eric. Aside from that, the option is already there in the forum software. All someone has to do on a Tuesday is change a setting in project.inc, namely" define("FORUM_QA_MERGED_MODE", false); // Set to true to merge Message boards and Q&A section to define("FORUM_QA_MERGED_MODE", true); // Set to true to merge Message boards and Q&A section And on the next project restart, the forums will look like these (example QCN). That they haven't yet is just choice. |
