If this doesn't put a smile on your face, I don't know what will.

Compared to Bush, Donald Trump is a Rutherford or an Einstein.

"And all of the Beltway's hooting and hollering about how "embarrassing" and "dangerous" Trump is will fall on deaf ears, because as gullible as Americans can be, they're smart enough to remember being told that it was OK to vote for George Bush, a man capable of losing at tic-tac-toe.

Madison and Jefferson never foresaw this situation. They knew there was danger of demagoguery, but they never imagined presidential candidates exchanging "mine's bigger than yours" jokes or doing "let's laugh at the disabled" routines. There's no map in the Constitution to tell us how to get out of where we're going. All we can do now is hold on."

Heh...

Still 'blaming Bush'..... bloody Democrats.

Firstly, what do you think Bush is being blamed for in Matt Taibbi's article in Rolling Stone magazine? Secondly, since when did either Matt Taibbi or Rolling Stone become synonymous with "Democrats".

Bloody libertarians ;)
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

But a foolish idiot Dubya was NOT.

Neither is Trump.

Major, you are outsmarting yourself.

Checkers, Pat's lack of a mink coat, and Tricky D's claim of not being a crook did not give rise to Trump.

Reading George Senior's lips did not give rise to Trump.

Meanwhile Junior's popularity relied far too heavily on him being a smart-ass. And that's something Trump can do a thousand times better than Dubya.

Junior opened Pandora's box and now Donald is knocking it out of the park.

Of course that's not to say the Blue Team is automatically immune. Kim Kardashian 2024 anyone? :)

What the Grand Old Party needs is someone that's more MajorKong and less Rubio, Cruz, crazy lady making up stories about live fetuses having their brains extracted.

If the Blue Red Team can't find it's equivalent of a Bernie Sanders (i.e. "normal", honest, not power hungry, and with some sort of consistent and hard-to-attack track record)...
I fear it's going to contract itself into oblivion.

The GOP has way too much history to deserve the clown-car it showed up with :(

The American people need to do themselves, their descendants, and the rest of the world a favor and NOT vote for either the Democrats or the Republicans this fall. Go find a 3rd party you can support, and cast your votes for them. Which one? I don't care. ANYTHING other than the D's or the R's.

Nope, I realize it's a little late (and you'll likely care as much as the next Guy) to fact check your posts, though this one is a personal peeve. The fictional character Dr Frankenstein was portrayed as "made" from as many parts as a regular human. Perhaps you meant the "monster" he created?

And no, Drumpf is no Frankenstein's monster, thus far he's shown no sign of the self-analysis that creature is depicted as having.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Democrats:
Clinton (497)
Sanders (69)

Looks like Clinton has a rather large lead... BUT...

Factor out the 'superdelegates' (superdelegates are party bosses, elites, and insiders that are delegates to the national convention by virtue of their position, and not from any particular candidate winning a primary or caucus, and are NOT pledged to vote for any one candidate) and what do things look like??

Clinton (52)
Sanders (51)

A MUCH tighter race...

Revisiting those numbers after "Super Tuesday" and we have:

Clinton 1052 (or 596 without the super delegates)
Sanders 427 (or 399 without the super delegates)

Not so tight a race after all.

Oh, Helmut Norpoth's model after expanding to include the results of South Carolina's primary in addition to New Hampshire's says Trump's chances of winning are "87% if running against Hillary Clinton, 99% if against Bernie Sanders" (source). Time will tell whether this model is better at predicting this year's general election than Nate Silver's.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Members of the Republican national security community has written an open letter
Mr. Trump’s own statements lead us to conclude that as president, he would use the authority of his office to act in ways that make America less safe, and which would diminish our standing in the world. Furthermore, his expansive view of how presidential power should be wielded against his detractors poses a distinct threat to civil liberty in the United States. Therefore, as committed and loyal Republicans, we are unable to support a Party ticket with Mr. Trump at its head. We commit ourselves to working energetically to prevent the election of someone so utterly unfitted to the office.

That's the way I see it, but I don't see a way out unless between now and the national convention, the party changes it's rules on how they nominate a presidential candidate making the primaries null and void.

The problem is probably not the rules on how they nominate a presidential candidate.
It's up to the voters to decide who will be a president.
But I don't think voters are very interested of foreign policy, only in domestic problems.
Since we now live in global world those issues cannot be separated.
So it's a bit omnius that so many americans ignore that.
Donald Trump in particulary.

But on the other hand.
Trump wants to make America more like Denmark:)
Denmark is Bernie Sanders’s utopia — a Scandinavian social democracy with free health care and college, whose enlightened rulers have “gone a long way to ending the enormous anxieties that come with economic insecurity,” as Sanders once put it.

Mitt Stupid just gave a talk on why the electorate
should not listen to "The Donald." I say:
"You fools, don't believe a word he is saying."
Mitt Stupid is the Anti-Christ, he is the reason
things are so bad for all of you. This may be your
last chance to save your country!

I'm not sure there are any laws binding the parties to selecting candidates via the primaries. They could go into the convention and select the candidates the old way without any committed delegates.

I agree with you that there are no set rules, but there are
set traditions. I also agree that the 1968 democratic convention
in Chicago; "The whole world is watching" is the reason for the
primary system. I believe that if the republican party dismisses
'The Donald' against the wishes of the membership, then the party
is in danger.

But is 'The Donald' the wishes of the membership? He doesn't seem to be getting 50+% of the votes. The best result he has had is 49% in one state. In most only 1/3 support him, 2/3 want anyone else.

Good points for sure. I don't think enough
consideration has been given to what all of
this will mean for the democrats as well.
