Two "new" dogs at the marina this weekend... Both "large shaggy" dogs, both fairly young, so full of joys. Both of them demonstrated that they couldn't make the turn off the main jetty onto the narrower access jetties at full speed. Both got out of the water unaided, and both showed their "delight" in the manner with which they greeted the concerned owners.... Contrast this with the old black Lab, who, in the warm weather gets very hot and bothered, she carefully looks for a place where she can jump in, have a swim around, then climb out to a point where a human can assist here out. Then she makes sure there is a human prepared to assist (she has arthritis in her front legs, so finds climbing steep banks a chore) climbs into the water, has her swim, getting to her selected exit point, climbs up, and then gets pulled up by her chosen human (who, if they know the drill) has got a towel ready to give her a good rub down. I'm not sure which she like best, the swim to cool down, or the rub down to help with her aches and pains. Update: Gypsy Rose has 2 tumors...1 on the left central mammary gland that is 1-1.5" in size and another pea-size on the right central mammary gland. Surgery will be on Wednesday with Pathology to follow. Chances are 50/50 as to whether it is cancer |

The X-ray of her lungs came back. There are some "concerning" spots. It is not clear whether they are indeed cancer or not. Films being sent to a Radiologist for further investigation. Due to the fact that at this time she is completely non symptomatic and her blood work was "excellent", we are carrying on with the surgery as planned. because we are concerned that the existing tumors will break open and actually hamper her movement. She's out of surgery. Vet called her a "Rockstar" for how well she did-both tumors came off really easily. We'll probly pick her up around 4:30. We're going out for lunch now |

Gypsy is home but obviously overwhelmed (as are we). She has 19 staples. She's itchy as hell. She's not chewing/licking them but scratching w/ back paws but the onesy is just too tight around her front shoulders no matter what size we get. We finally just put socks on her back paws and used painters tape to keep them on. Took a 1/2 day off tmrw to keep an eye on her |

She's doing beautifully Jann-thank you. Absolutely no attempt to bite or lick her staples. She occasionally tries a swing at scratching them but they're just out of reach |

Congrats California:) http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-ln-california-wolf-pack-08132015-story.html A gray wolf pack has established itself in Northern California, state wildlife officials confirmed on Thursday, the first family of wolves known in the state in nearly 100 years. |

Was informed of the Pathology report today. Small pea-size tumor was benign. The larger 1 1/2" tumor was Carcinoma but the margins were clean so the surgeon believes she got it all out. |

I usually reserve my well wishes for those of the feline persuasion, but I wish the best for Blurf's Gypsy doggins. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

This is new to me. Puppy Mills:( Many people simply interested in adding a dog to their lives are unknowingly perpetuating a system of violence. Far too many consumers are purchasing pets from stores and online sources that support puppy mills, horrific "businesses" where dogs are treated with little to no personal attention or proper care. Our dog Tosca is just about one years old now. We have problem with her not doing her needs outside. It's very strange because we are out with her almost 5 hours per day. I know that dogs can be trained but then you have to be alert when the dog relieve themselves. In our case she does it in the night. Does anybody here know some solution? |

Our dog Tosca is just about one years old now. Is it new behaviour Janne? And is she relieving herself in both senses of the word? If you've had hot weather and she's been drinking more than usual, that might be all it is. As one of our dogs got older, he developed bladder control issues. The choice was to take away his water bowl in the evening - which I did NOT do - or make a point of getting up during the night for him, which I did. @Blurf - glad to hear that Gypsy is recovering well :) oh...and did we say we like humans too? Well we do :) |

Our dog Tosca is just about one years old now. No. It's no new behavior. And she does urinate outside. But the big job happens when we are not looking and places that is hard to locate. I think we will try to see what Cesar Milan says about it. |
