Running BOINC 7.4.36 x64 on Win 7 on i3-4130 CPU with Intel Graphivs 4400 (10.18.10.3907 driver - have rolled back to that one). The majority of my Seti work units (on this machine only) report 'computation error'. Any suggestions please as what to do to prevent this - we're missing out on doing useful work! Thanks for offering opportunity to be involved with great project since 1999. |

With your computers hidden you'll have to give a link to the computer ID or one of the erroneous tasks as else it's only guessing for any helpers here. |

Hi, Apologies, thought it might be a general issue somehow ... link to a failed unit here: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=4054959889 |

Which drivers version are you using for that Intel GPU? |

Link to only one task will vanish, so "Error tasks for computer 7197058": http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=7197058&offset=0&show_names=0&state=6&appid= I don't know if this is caused by the Intel iGPU driver but many of those drivers seem to have issues. (I myself don't have Intel iGPU) You may read (about good and bad Intel iGPU drivers): Claggy: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=76499&postid=1626522#1626522 Richard Haselgrove: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=76542&postid=1628895#1628895 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=76522&postid=1630573#1630573 Â ![]() ![]() Â |

Thank you all very much for the suggestions, but chasing driver versions around on trial and error basis is just to way too complicated to bother with right now. I'll disable the GPU processing (which seems to stop error messages appearing) and wait for Boinc / drivers to reestablish interoperability again. |

It's not BOINC causing the errors. BOINC doesn't do any science, that's done by the Seti science applications. BOINC is merely the managing program, is used to schedule what to run next and a way to download, store and upload work. The error you run into is exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005). The exit code is one that's thrown by the science application, while the latter part (0xc0000005) is a representation of what this error would be if Windows would throw it. So you could put "windows +0xc0000005" (sans quotes) in a search engine and see what rolls out of there. Or just believe us who dealt with this error for a couple of years now and found that it's predominantly caused by faulty hardware drivers. Change drivers to correct ones and it'll work. Now, you haven't been told to chase driver versions on a trial and error basis by anyone here. You've been pointed to other threads in which people point out that there are Intel GPU driver versions that do not work with the Seti science application for the Intel GPU. But that one or more drivers, pointed out, are working correctly. You said you rolled back to 10.18.10.3907 but this doesn't work. So why not try the 10.18.10.3621 pointed to by Richard? This one is certified by several people to work correctly. If you want a more up-to-date version to satisfy the requirements of other programs, you can go for 15.33.32.64.4061. In both cases use the 64bit version of the drivers. |
