Was just watching....
Take a chance....
TTTTTake a chance on me.
They were more about marketing than talent, but had both going for them.
Guys had the girls to oggle, and gurlz had the guys to awe over.
Perfect mix.
And on top of that, they could really sing.
Chart topping stuff at that, they were gone to the top.

SOS simply nailed it. It was the perfect storm.
Their voices were knitted so tightly by that time, nothing could stop them.
It was the perfect song, and they had the perfect voices and they sold millions of copies of that one song.SOS

Let me say this...Ag nailed that group together, and she was the one lone talent that made them what they became. The others latched onto her bootstraps and hung on tight. What else was there? Ag just made the group.

The guys certainly don't do it for me, and the brunette, well maybe not so.
The lone star was Agnetha. Always has been.
The video is so painful to watch, given that it was done before the things that destroyed them.

A redhead and a couple of washouts. Without her, there would have been no ABBA.

Another portrait in music, reminiscing of the late 60's in Great Britain and the backbone of transport......the Albion. Brings back memories of my own time behind the 'Big Wheel'.

Oh, thank you so much for the Knopler/Harris link.

Both have been such idols of mine for so many years.

You have made me cry, in a good way.

Thank you so much.

I really was not aware that they were collaberating.
Each has been highly regarded in their own rights by me for years, but this is the first time I knew them to work together.

And now you have me off on a runner.
An evening with both of them together.

I have said this before, and I'll say it once again.

Emmylou gets more beautiful every year she ages.

Anyway Emmylou Harris is awarded the Polar Music Prize this year.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfTCg2gh3AU
"The Polar Music Prize 2015 is awarded to the artist Emmylou Harris from Birmingham, Alabama. No one in the history of popular music has harmonised like Emmylou Harris. For five decades she has embellished other artists' recordings by adding vocal parts that did not exist in the melodies. But it is as an artist in her own right that she has made the greatest contribution. The music of Emmylou Harris contains the history and topography of the entire American continent. Her voice follows the contours of the American landscape, from the highest peaks to the endless prairie. Weather, soil and colour, it can all be perceived in her music. As she sings in one of the best of her own compositions, she is a red dirt girl from a red dirt town. Emmylou Harris has also used her position as a musician to work for feminism, animal rights and the care of people affected by war. Emmylou Harris makes the world bigger and smaller, more valuable and more beautiful."

I own two copies of her album 'Quarter Moon In a Ten Cent Town'.
One is a half speed master copy that has only been played once.

This is Emmylou's signature song, and why I came to love her so many years ago.
Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town.

My favorite song though, was 'Two More Bottles of Wine', from that album.

Delbert McClinton wrote it...Emmylou did not.
She just sang it to perfection.

Oh dear.
If it's on a tape don't forget to trim the tape. That is spin it once a year so it wont get bad.
But if it turns bad you could try "bake" the tape to restore it.

About Polar Music Prize.
Percussion virtuoso Evelyn Glennie receive the price also. Glennie became deaf when she was 12 years old and therefore are barefoot when she plays to feel the vibrations ..

I have a couple of pieces of half inch thick plate glass that I use to at times restore old records that have gotten out of square.

One improvises at times.
I also have a few pieces of software that I use to restore and declick old vinyl.
They really work well.
