Using BOINC Manager 7.2.28 (x64), when I select the Messages tab to the left in order to get a quick update of the most recent news, the Manager chooses to launch Internet Explorer instead of Google Chrome, which I prefer to use right now. IE is still version 8 here. There is no automatic update from Microsoft when it comes to IE alone and from experience I happen to know that updating too much at a time makes it all go down. Perhaps it should be mentioned that I may be having most of it lying around. The reason I choose Chrome for IE8 is because of all the Toolbars at the top which soon makes room for less when it comes to contents. The Google Toolbar is one of the few exceptions, though. Also Chrome is having its problems as well, including the little arrow on the address bar for me to click on (yes, I know you still are having an option for this there). Also the lack of the status line at the bottom and menu choices for the vertical and possible horizontal scroll boxes. I tried right-clicking with the mouse on a link in the Messages Tab, but in the same way as the usual left-clicking instead, it only opens IE8 in exactly the same way, without allowing me to possibly copy the link (or URL) instead. Here an improvement could be suggested, if it is not already present in the most recent version of the Manager. |

BOINC uses the default browser as set in the OS. Just make sure that Chrome has been set as the default. Can't tell you how since I would never use a browser that was designed specificly to track peoples Internet movement to target ads. |

Just setting the browser itself to be the default browser doesn't help, you'll have to tell Windows which browser is your default browser, through the "Program Access and Computer Defaults" option: How to set up your default browser in Windows? |

Can't tell you how since I would never use a browser that was designed specificly to track peoples Internet movement to target ads. Chrome and IE both do this. Haven't checked Firefox, Opera, or any others. |

Can't tell you how since I would never use a browser that was designed specifically to track peoples Internet movement to target ads. All browsers use cookies to track your movement (in ads) to some extent and there are ways to block most of them. Chrome is designed to make it very difficult to do that, plus it send info home about browsing patterns. |
