hi

I read in CVS log that Boinc 4.57 is finished.
Is there any link for download, on Alpha site it isn´t listed?

I'd be real careful Mike with the v4.57, I pretty much stay away from the Alpha Versions but for the heck of it decided to install the v4.57 on just 1 PC after backing up the BOINC Files.

It installed ok and looked good but acted real buggy to me, it hung up a lot and just acted weird ... I just uninstalled it and went back to v4.13 without any problems ... Good Luck with it :)

Is it possible for you guys to post things like this in the PROPER forum (read ALPHA forum)?????????????????????????

There will be people who are clueless and they will try to install these alpha version and it will just create problems for them. ALPHA software belong in the ALPHA forum. Or are you just an ATTENTION SEEKER? And you aren't getting enough on the alpha forums?

The CVS post was <B>NOT NOT[/b] "4.57 is finished", the post was

"...Rom 22 Dec 2004 (boinc)
- Tag for 4.57 release, all platforms
boinc_core_release_4_57"

Changing the tag does not say complete. It is just a way to tell it appart from other releases.

Hi

For everybody who didn´t knows me.
I was Beta Tester for over one year, and be surely handsome with the core releases.
The only thing i want is force the project faster.

4.57 runs fine for me, but there is still enough to fix.
Progress bar shows nothing processed, allways at 0%.
At the first start, all messages was cleaned out and nothing shown after that.
I had to close and restart the client.
The shutdown bug should be fixed.

What i dont like is we have to install MSI script that the installer will work.

I have a question for you. I just got a Pentium 4- Prescott 478 socket. I ran it for 1 Day at regular speed. Today I over clocked it 5% it looked like everything was going good. I turned off the monitor and ate dinner when I turned on the monitor to see my progrees the boinc client message said that I had exceeded my daily quota of Units. I had a Prescott 3.2Ghz in this Motherboard over clocked at 3600Ghz from day 1 of running BOINC. The Mb is Asus P4P800 Deluxe. Ram Is OCZ-PC-4200/512Ram its in a thermaltake 1000 series case with 3 added fans and a thermaltake heat sink with a 6000RPM fan. I detached and reatached and 3 minutes into a wu it would send 100% complete. So I went back to regular no overclock. I am running XP Pro OS. I had read in one of your posts you had a system overclocked 3800Ghz+. All my Comps are overclocked never had this problem. Have you had this problem?

Hi

I have 3 machines and two of them are overclocked, but not at 3800Mhz.
My machine AMD XP 2500+ Barton core original at 1890 MHZ running at 2100MHZ.
My sons one AMD XP 2500+ Barton runs at 2210 MHZ.
All machines running fine with Boinc no problems over the last three month.
I´m running 4.57 for one day now 4.56 around four weeks, 4.54 before and so on.
My son/brother are running 4.13 public release.

==========

I've had problems off and on with a couple of my Pc's Everette, usually due to trying to go to far with the Overclocking. If I back off the FSB a couple of # it goes away. I've had all my Pc's long enough now to know how far I can go with each one of them without any problems.

The Pc thats running at over 3.8Ghz I've never had a problem with though, it's Liquid Cooled though and runs fairly cool even when running Seti...Right now it's sitting at 778.86 RAC, very impressive to me anyway for a single CPU PC ... :)

Are you sure the 3 min WU's you where turning in were not just the WU itself...??? I run into that once in awhile where one of my Pc's will start turning in short WU's and I start to get worried that something is wrong with the PC but when I check out the WU I see where the other 2 people that turned in a result for that WU had real short times also.

I only have 1 3.4 Prescott in my Systems & it's running at 3.713Ghz without any problems other than running hotter than the Northwoods I have which is normal for a Prescott. I remember Legacy saying he had a Prescott running at 3.8Ghz in a past post so I guess it's just a combination of Motherboard-Ram & how cool you can keep them.

Right now it's winter time here in Michigan and I can get away with more Overclocking than I can in the summer, I know already when summer starts getting here I'll have to back off all my Pc's to probably their Default speeds because it will just get to hot in my Computer room to run them at Overclocked speeds... :( Heats a killer when it comes to Overclocking ...

The "fast" wu will show as "success" but "-9 informal message Too many signals", and this isn't an error.

But, in this instance the results is showing as "client error" "computing", with either "access violation" or "There are no child processes to wait for" and possible other error-codes.

Did you see the PC that Tom's whatever ran with cooling with liquid nitrogen (I think, or maybe CO2)?

I forget what the speed was that they managed, I just thought it was kinda funny when I first saw it ...

Paul BoorBoy,

the had to refill nitro in frequent manner

direct link 5 GHz Project: CPU Cooling With Liquid Nitrogen

Every CPU has it's own limitation

having 3 3.2 Prescotts, the maximus speed, taken from the asus probe
is 3600 for one and 3733 for the others. I let them run with 3.540 and 3.601
(air cooled regular boxed, no case 58-64 C) stable.

As PoorBoy mentioned, let them run a little slower than the max.

and the ram schould be fast enough too.

Hi

I´ve disabled network access yesterday because i was going to party.
When i reenabled it the manager has crashed while uploading the results.
Boinc exe and seti app was still in memory, so i restarted the manager and no data was lost.
All units was correctly uploaded and reported and downloading new ones.

That's the funny thing. Although the Manager isn't really stable and crashed several times a day, it doesn't really affect the Core Client because the only communincate over GUI-RPCs. :)

I totally agree with you on this one and have voiced the same concerns before but obviously they didn't do much good :) I'm not saying you all shouldn't install the latest alpha build but rather, take discussions about it to the appropriate place. Get on the alpha/beta projects and post about them there or get on the boinc_dev mailing list.
