Car update: First, I have decided I don't really like the Suburban. With the huge storage bin between the front seats, it's still cramped for me, plus it's too high off the ground for me to climb into easily. This is all irrelevant, though, since I had to return it last night. Chevy of Naperville called to say they finally had a loaner available. It's an Equinox. I hate it. It's too small for me. I have to move the seat back and forth to get in and out, and to sit comfortably and see where I'm going. Unfortunately, I will have this car for the weekend, making two trips to the museum in it. It also reaffirms once again how much I dislike front wheel drive. Chevy said they found the new problem with my car. It's a broken valve spring. The warranty company insisted on sending out an inspector before authorizing the repair. Then they need to test it for a couple of days to find the previous transmission problem. Now, I think I'll take a nap during the early midday news. Ping! David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Outta hear win, ready to get in the oven:) (no A/C in the car:( :/ perhaps a non-stick frying pan will be more comfortable - or sticking your head out the window - though I'm not actually recommending that... Hope the traffic is kind to you Julie! :) (edit: sorry didn't see you down there - hope they get your car back to you soon David) |

Uli, glad you're ok. Grace is about 6yrs old now, she can now jump 51" or 4'3" straight up, I had to put a few empty boxes on top of the empty 100 gallon aquarium to stop that, that's to protect the wires back there(TV, DVD player, HD cable tv box and the aquarium), eventually I'll buy some split looms and some 1/4" thick plywood that I can screw in place in the back to protect the wires with, until then the boxes will do, cheap, but an effective deterrent. Well no fever so that's a win. Between naps with the girls, I'm tweaking & testing my new vid card. It'd be REALLY nice if Nvidia got off their collective backsides and fixed the driver issues |

Argh. Can't believe I ended a question with a period instead of a question mark. Anyway, I've also had other fun this week. Wednesday evening, I went out to dinner with friends. After that, they had to pick up some stuff at Meijer (chain of stores similar to WalMart). I went in with them, but didn't buy anything. At just about the same time, however, two charges were made to my credit card at ANOTHER Meijer store. The card is just a conventional magnetic stripe, not an RFID chip, so I couldn't have been standing too close to the register and been charged accidentally. Chase Bank sent me a text asking if I'd made a purchase there. The next morning, I checked my account on line and saw TWO charges, for $5.95 and $109.something. I returned the text indicating no, I had not made such a purchase. They texted again to say they would call me. They did, and put the two charges on hold, and said they would send me a new card. Seeing that I use it a lot, they decided to send it via UPS; it should arrive today. I mentioned that I had used the card to secure the rental car. They said they would leave it active for that transaction. (This will be interesting because I had to leave the rental at Chevy without checking it in with Enterprise. My account on line now shows a new account number and the rental has disappeared off of it entirely.) I also wonder what's going on with the charge for my dinner, since it authorized for the exact amount, but I added a tip to it. That (besides the disputed ones) is the only charge that hasn't cleared yet. Anyway, off to the euphemism and the aforementioned nap. Ping!
