http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/ Thanks, that's the one. San Juan Bautista is near Monterey, in the central Coast Range, too far away for me to feel over on the east side of the Central Valley. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

This time the Ring of Fire has given both China and Japan a rattling overnight. This one was pretty strong where my friend in Japan used to live. However, he moved earlier this year and it was minor where he is now. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Well James my mother told me of a quake up in the 1,000 islands back in 1936 that the beds were moving on the floors, dishes falling out in the kitchen. Trashed the place big time. Cheers everybody Life is short so don't sip Beer speaks, people mumble |

Here is a link to something trending now. A boater caught an eruption on video. Oh great. My cousin, his wife, and their will-be-by-then four kids are moving there in July to bring the word of Christ to the natives. Here's a few, note the distances are from where I live at... And out there, you guys don't even wake up for anything less than 6. Having once felt a 4, I don't think I'd wake up for anything less than a 5. (Well, I didn't actually feel the 4, I just head stuff rattling.) And out there, you guys don't even wake up for anything less than 6. I can usally feel anything over a 3 within 100 miles, but certainly dont get excited about it. They happen so often that I am usally pretty accurate with locating them. The last one I was near was 8 miles away and at a 3 miles down. I was in a meeting and as it happened I said that was a 3.6- 7 miles away, a little over 2 miles deep and NNW of us. It turned out to be a 3.5. I was right on as to the direction and within a mile to distance and depth. |

Here's a few, note the distances are from where I live at... Actually a few years back a 5 did hit 2.5 miles from where I live at, so yeah I felt it, Graces water bowl shook, thanks to that quake I know the direction the ground shakes, the same direction as the section of the i15 fwy that I live near. That's why I need 3 MAME seismic isolators under My 100 gallon aquarium, since the aquariums current location is quake resistant, and cannot support a full aquarium, since the aquarium is only sitting on 1 floor joist that is most likely 2"x6"-8" in size, that's one reason why the aquarium is still empty... The other reason, filling the aquarium doesn't matter right now, I have lots of time to do that in. Oh and these 3 MAME isolators? They're only sold in Japan, cause MAME doesn't have the capacity to export and meet local demand currently, I was told I'd have to buy them from a Japanese dealer, and that for Me is the problem... I feel 4.5 and stronger which are few but the Napa CA 6.0 was a winner, when it hit the building twisted at 3:25 AM and my blinds almost fell out. It shook for about 10 seconds. |
