The server hosting the Astropulse database crashed. The database is okay, and we have a replacement machine, but it may be 1-2 weeks before Astropulse is back on line. We are still serving regular (multibeam) workunits in the meantime. -- BOINC/SETI@home network/web/science/development person -- "Any idiot can have a good idea. Question : for the AP WU's that will be completed during the blackout and whose deadline is earlier to the return to normal, what will happen ? Will these work units be considered as valid ? Example : a work unit completed (100%) with a deadline of 1st march |

As for me, I got used to having only random information on what's going on at the back-end. Sometime feels like information only drops in when something is broken. However, information is not necessary for my machine to keep on crunching :) Anyway, thanks for the news, though they are bad ones. Hope everything will be back to normal soon. Om mani padme hum. |

Am I right in assuming that this server failure has also had a ripple effect on other parts of the system? I have more than a dozen completed jobs waiting/pending upload (most of them are not Astropulse jobs), and I have several dozen completed jobs (pending credit) which do not appear to be progressing towards validation. Would you please post additional updates with respect to what other features/functions have been impacted by this server failure? |

There is a lot of discussion of today's server problems in the Number Crunching forum, Panic Mode thread. However, I can't see any logical reason why it would be a ripple effect from AP being down. My guess it's a separate problem that happens to be occurring at the same time. Some where around 2-13/2-14 my wife's computer got hit with 3 pairs of the Astropulse 6's in a daily batch, like all at once, doing two at a time while the GPU was doing the ATI open cl in between, they went without a hitch, about 25 or so hour a piece turn around times and uploaded just fine. Am I in the right universe or wrong year? or did I miss something? New guy so be easy on me and my calculator batteries are dead. ;) |
