It looks like my 660's will be hitting up their backup project again very soon. Oh well, at least I'll be climbing again in the BOINC ranks. [edit] Speak and you shall receive. Cheers. |

ready to send buffer nearly back to 0, with all the shorties being served to us the servers can't meet demand. I can't recall seeing a number over 200k since Saturday... |

It appears the servers cannot quite keep up with demand now that we only have MB WU to crunch. |

All say Heil to CreditNew. My RAC peaked 7 days ago at 20,500 +/-, I've lost a third of it since. : ( RAC would fluctuate between 15.5k and 17k (caused be the normal ebb n flow of APs being processed before the peak of 20k) so it'll probably take at least two or so weeks to get back to that level...here's hoping for some APs. |

Maybe someone can help me understand: This is a volunteer science project. They are running it for creation and deepening of knowledge. They are not running it for any specific person who contributes to the projects. So being dedicated to the project is great but what is all this pitiable moaning about when it comes to dropping RACs? As far as I understand, you switch to another project, when this one does not provide enough work to keep the machine busy. So where exactly is the problem? A slight bend within the project statistics is not that bad, a server failure does not influence the general outcome etc. Or is it really the RAC itself? That would be pitiful as this is no competition or compensation for any deficiencies. I observed this thread for quite some time now and by this time I really want to understand the phenomenon (so I hope no one will be offended by my question). Om mani padme hum. |

Michael I understand where you are coming from. Some people only crunch for Seti and the RAC is the way for crunchers to tell how they are performing. |

Maybe someone can help me understand: In theory, you are absolutely right. But some human beings have a more competitive nature than others and just can't help trying to be the best at something. If you don't, then don't worry about the whiners. Very few of them will actually leave the project because of this issue. Actually, to a degree, all of us watching our RAC (or not) also serves to gauge how well the project is running overall. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Thanks for the answers! I think, David described it quite well - we're only human. I never thought about leaving, it was just a question out of curiosity. @Batter Up: Thanks man, YMMD :D How in heaven could I forget about that fact! Om mani padme hum. |
