Holy cow! They're suddenly saying 60F or better on Friday! But then it crashes again. 40 Saturday, 34 Sunday, low 40s the next few days.

Rain and dropping temps. The rain is good; it washes the salt off of everything. But later it's supposed to change to snow and then they'll put down more salt.

Did I mention my new gas bill? $151. 50 more than last month. Can also be called 50% more than last month.

That's bigger than My electric and gas bill combined of $121.25, a difference of $29.75 from what you typed. Ouch, you have My sympathy on that.

$65 for me here for Gas and Electricity for February. Might be lower in March.

Message 1491733 - Posted: 20 Mar 2014, 7:45:39 UTC

It's been a chilly winter in my neck of the woods, and an expensive experiment: Right after Christmas, my furnace's inducer went bad, and rather than fix it, I decided to be a curmudgeon and try to make do with two of those oil-filled electric portable radiators. My house is small(about 900 sq. feet), and has well-insulated walls/ceiling. I ran the two space heaters about ten hours a day, and came out with a monthly bill of $175, which is steep for me, but it was a consistently cold stretch in the teens and single digits, so if my gas furnace had been working, it might have been close that $ amount, too. Those electric space heaters actually kept me around 64 F, but they pull the juice. You could really see my meter spinning around.

I pay € 140 a month. No gas here. Heating is on electricity, which is quite expensive.

Plenty of rain today, with the wind chilling things. Keeping warm with a couple of candles.

You should take into consideration the EPC value of your home, also isolation, if you have double glass etc. Always check the site for the cheapest tariff because they aren't giving it pro active.

That's very reasonable! And it's an old house? You do have double glass then I think.

Double pane glass windows with an aluminum frame is no better than Single Pane Glass Windows with an Aluminum frame, vinyl clad dual pane windows are better, as the vinyl doesn't transmit heat energy.
