As the topic reads: How about implementing a feature in the message board for splitting long threads into smaller pages of let's say 25 posts? Because even on a real fast connection the reading of some threads, e.g. BOTD, is a real PITA. Aloha, Uli |

Text is text. Only one byte per character. You can disable viewing avatars and sigs. As long as there arent any graphics how much bandwidth does a thread require? me@rescam.org |

I think it's a good idea as long as there is a option to set how many posts per page you want. For example: 10, 25, 50, 100, ALL. me@rescam.org |

As long as there arent any graphics how much bandwidth does a thread > require? > With avatars disabled and pictures converted to links in my forum settings already the BOTD thread takes ~45 seconds to load on a 1024 kBit/s DSL modem @ maximum speed... On a 56K modem i would simply stop to post, cause it would cause to much costs. BTW: Why on earth have all other boards i know of this feature? Can they all be wrong except the Berkeley staff? BTW2: The only text, no graphics, no avatar version of the thread is already 1.2 MBytes!! ...your turn... Aloha, Uli |
