The objective is to have good government. It is not to have a democracy.

Rah rah, rally round the flag peeps, vote for Matt Giwer for Dictator!

America has never been a Democracy. We don't use that system of government here.

In the absolute original meaning of Democracy you may be correct. But a system where every eligible person votes on every motion is obviously unworkable. Democracy has now come to mean where people vote for representatives to attend Government meetings and vote there on the people behalf.

Therefore under any modern meaning of Democracy the US is a Democratic Republic.

Absolutely not. The United States is a Constitutional Republic. And I wanted to add, thank God we are not a Democracy.

The definition Democracy can be applied to the US since the introduction of the 17th Amendment, since when Senators are directly elected by the people.

When i first glanced over this Thread title I thought is read ...
"Do you trust Chris?".
I'd say the answer is NO.

Naw, forgive the poor boy GF. The lack of women in his party means he's got too much time on his hands.

Maybe if the Chinese import more he might get lucky.

Nothing intended. I know I read something like that. I remember to many bits and pieces. I am almost certain England was involved else I would not have paid attention to it. Were they changes to party rules? Something about replacing a party leader maybe? Not important, I made my case on democracies without bringing in the war of democracies of 1861-65.

Changed my name to "Gone Off Open Fishing".

Don't worry, i never mistook you for any of my girlfriends!

Edit, since he evaporated, this probably now makes no sense.

A democracy means majority rules and that's the end of it. Maybe you should do some research about what a Constitutional Republic means and then remind yourself why America has a constitution and why this country is designed to protect the minority, not the majority. I'll say it again, you do not want majority rule in the USA.

You guys crack me up.

What the US is: A Constitutional Republic, where the rights of the 'individual' are protected.

What they pretend it is: America is a Democracy - where an individual is forced to comply with the will of the majority.

What it really is: A corporation owned by international banking cabals, where the individual has no rights and whose labor is used as collateral in an unlawful pyramid scheme.

Question.

Why don't all Americans move to China?

I've been there, it's filthy in the cities.

So I'm told, but If so many Americans are unhappy in their own country where else can they go?

Why should they leave? I say fix it if you think it is broke. The problem is most Americans are too busy with complacency and are apathetic to what is going on..too busy watching Honey BooBoo and the Kardashians....and watching <insert whatever absurd reality show you want here>.
