OK, let's see if a point can be made here. Define "dodo". (Hint: an animal.) Be brief but specific. Impetus: besides recent (and old) discussions here, I was telling a friend the other day how in elementary school one of my teachers would admonish us for not explaining when she asked us too, saying, essentially, "All you did was tell me 'a dodo is a dodo'." |

OK, let's see if a point can be made here. A definition was presented and I am owning it. Lets get back to the discussion shall we? Unvarnished Haaretz Jerusalem Post The origin of the Yahweh Cult |

Let the lesson begin. "A dodo is an extinct bird." It is now on the next player to define "extinct" or "bird" or both. |

Let the lesson begin. I like bird as a non-placental warm blooded creature with feathers and extinct being a specie which no longer lives. |

Let the lesson begin. So, we have three choice to continue on. (Is specie the singular?) (Also, IU forgot to mention the dodo was flightless. This may need to be included.) "A species of bird which no longer lives." "A non-placental warm blooded creature with feathers that is extinct." Or, ""A species of non-placental warm blooded creatures with feathers that no longer lives." I think we can ignore defining "a", "with", "that". |

I think we can ignore defining "a", "with", "that". I think the point can still be made. So, how to say "species no longer existing" without going back to "extinct", for example? |

I think we can ignore defining "a", "with", "that". How about, A pre-existing species, or a former living species. [/quote] Old James |

If they don't exist, did they ever exist? They still exist, see that pile of bones. |

Let the lesson begin. So, an ante-now species of flightless non-placental feathered warm blooded creatures no longer existent? |

How about defining the dodo bird by its DNA sequence? That would be quite interesting. But, then, how does one define things that were never alive? Thus, it just pushes off the point of the discussion. |

So, an ante-now species of flightless non-placental feathered warm blooded creatures no longer existent? Thanks for playing! Based on our latest entry, we are at: A done species of flightless non-placental feathered warm blooded creatures. |

A done species of flightless non-placental feathered warm blooded creatures. = dodo. I suspect there are others than the dodo. |

The Dodo (Raphus cucullatus) is an extinct flightless bird that was endemic to the island of Mauritius, east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. You (Chris) have used the term "extinct" when it was already used and disallowed from further use. Point proven? Or did Chris not understand the rules? |
