Sure americans come to see her digs. They also go see Elvis's mansion. both seem to be overblown. Elvis made his a modern gaudy showplay. The brits have a centuries old one.

They come knowing that they most probably wont see the Queen, yet hang around the
Palace gates hoping that she may though appear. If we had no Royal family left
then no one would show any interest in the Royal palaces just on their own.
Time America gave up being a republic and got herself some Royals, they really are
good for business these days. Also Royals are real people unlike all these daft
American film stars acting like pre-madonnas. So having a few Royals around the
place in America would put these film stars in their places.
