Message 1391210 - Posted: 16 Jul 2013, 6:12:03 UTC - in response to Message 1391161.

the nice part of having citrus trees in the back yard.

We have lots of flower smells, but no fruit trees except apples.

Ian, you're a bit too far north for citrus. They need a more mediteranean climate, and even though they are evergreens, citrus doesn't like snow or freezing temps.

Message 1391219 - Posted: 16 Jul 2013, 7:07:03 UTC - in response to Message 1391143.

Tonight's low: 74.

There's been rain, but not much lightning. Apparently, ice holds positive ions and rain holds negative ions, and the atmosphere is too warm for there to be much ice, even up there at storm cloud level.

Well it was 108F outside today, while inside it was 87F, on August 1st I'm buying a 7500cfm water pump for the cooler to replace the park issued 5000cfm pump, the 11000cfm I had to return, I'd overspent somewhat, plus its too big currently, no choice, so until then I'll endure it. The temp inside is now 83F and outside the temp is 103F...

I'm running a 15000 pump on mine, it keeps the front room around 23 to 30 degrees cooler than outside.

Of course I also have 2 window A/C units to keep the bedroom cool.

In Wijer, where we used to live before the accident, I looked out the window and there were apple and pear trees as far as the eye can see...

A nice 25°C here today

We look over fields of rape, barley and several other crops between the trees. The back lawn is looking slightly burnt, so I will need the sprinkler before it goes brown.

True enough, if it is trees you like my whole
place is surrounded by Evergreens Birch, and
all sorts of Sycamore and Lilacs. Lots of shade.

I've just heard from usually reliable sources, that it is going to be weather here tomorrov. I tend to believe that they are right.

Of course your belief is personal and the reliability of weather to come is open to question. But I believe I am melting right now...

Ah, rape. Source of my preferred cooking oil, known to American namby pambies as Candian Oil A. Canola.

11AM and the heat index is already over 90. I need to go out today, but I don't want to.

The cooler panels as modified by yours truly with a flat blade screwdriver are barely able to use an 11000 water pump, 15000? Sounds like water would be leaking and squirting, I usually got 30F difference from an 11000, the pads I use are Aspen Snow Cool, not the blue Dial pads which aren't supposed to be as good as the aspen pads, but I've never used the blue pads, though I do have some in a roll, though during spring and fall the 11000 was just too much and too dang cold...

Works fine for me, with no modification.

You'd not like the weather here...

Or here either. It's currently almost the same temp as where Vic is, but much higher humidity.

We're supposed to have a beautiful break from the heat and humidity this weekend... and I'm going to New Orleans. I'll be back Monday and the heat will be back Tuesday.

Level 3 UK heatwave warning extended to the West country.

No idea how we managed to get through that summer of 1976!!!...?????????
If I remember, we all applied a little bit of common sense whereby we drank
more fluids and tended to keep cool in the shade when we started to feel hot.
Do we need to be told to do this today, seemingly some in authority think we do.
Lets go through this again, remember Nick, "Drink plenty of fluids and try to
keep cool"... right, I think I've got it.
