Message 1376388 - Posted: 4 Jun 2013, 6:10:34 UTC - in response to Message 1376386.

I get the following (as others have posted) what do we need to do on our end to continue processing.
SETI @ home | Message from server: Your file app_info.xml not suitable version of SETI @ home v7.

Then update your app_info.xml with one that does, with the Latest Lunatics Installer.

Claggy

I have the same problem.

I installed the latest SETI version 7.0.65. Since "setiathome_v7" is what is in the app_info.xml file what is the correct string for version 7 (as I have not been able to find the correct string)?

From jason_gee

My recommendation (Subject to change after I try it) would be:
- Set No New tasks
- Wait until tasks all complete, upload & report
- delete app_info.xml from the project directory
- reset the project
- Allow New tasks

Extra notes: Probably need to check web options too in there somewhere [OK :)]. I'd try let the server decide amongst the compatible versions over some time with one instance per GPU (underutilised due to memory intensive Autocorrelations) then worry about multi instances after things settle in. You'd likely want either newer Recommended Boinc for that, or wait for installer for older Boinc clients to run with app_info (anonymous platform)

You'll need to ensure the web preference for V7 is ticked as well, which I gather it probably is.

Yes.
SETI@home Enhanced: yes
Astropulse v505: no
SETI@home v7: yes
AstroPulse v6: no

I get the following message every time SETI starts.

State file error: bad application name setiathome_v7

I get the following on most requests for work.

[SETI@home] Requesting new tasks for CPU
[SETI@home] Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
[SETI@home] No tasks sent
[SETI@home] No tasks are available for SETI@home Enhanced
[SETI@home] No tasks are available for SETI@home v7
[SETI@home] Your app_info.xml file doesn't have a usable version of SETI@home v7.
[SETI@home] Your app_info.xml file doesn't have a usable version of AstroPulse v6.

So what is the correct app_name for SETI v7.0.65?

There is no such thing as seti v7.0.65. That is a BOINC version number.

Since you're using app_info (anon platform), you need to run the Lunatics installer, v0.41. You'll find the link to it in the NC forum.

Have you uninstalled LUNATICS (v0.40) ?
Uninstalling this old version of LUNATICS is mandatory before any other operation.

As far as I know, there has NEVER been any need to uninstall a previous opti installation before updating with a new Lunatics installer.

All I see there are windows programs.

I am using SETI v7.0.65 on Ubuntu.

How do I eliminate the error messages: "State file error: bad application name setiathome_v7" which occurs at SETI start and "Your app_info.xml file doesn't have a usable version of SETI@home v7." which occurs when trying to request work.

Robert, as Gatekeeper has advised you >>
Since you're using app_info (anon platform), you need to run the Lunatics installer, v0.41.

This is the solution !
If you want more details, open a thread in the forum NUMBER CRUNCHING.

I am not sure how the Lunatics installer would work for him, as he is running OS/2 on one rig and a version of Linux on the other.

I have no past experience with either, and am not sure what the Lunatics installer offers for either of those operating systems.

I am only posting this so that others are aware before offering further advice.

The Lunatics installer is a Windows-only program, and the SETI programs it installs are Windows-only too.

Third-party SETI programs for other platforms are available: advice on where to find them and how to install them will be readily available if you come and ask in Number crunching

Thank you for the clarification, Richard.
I suspected that was the case.

I had to uninstall v0.40 first! After that my computer was ready to work as it should!

Why 'have to'? What went wrong when (if) you tried just to update? As Mark says, the installer is designed not to need a separate uninstallation stage (although some advice was given to undo the effects of the installation, during the interim period between the main project release and the availability of the new installer).

7.0.0.64 (x64) of what?
(SETI@home Version 7 (the topic of this thread) is not BOINC 7.0.64)

An error on downloading is not a BOINC error. In this case it's something you have to set in your preferences. You're not downloading the seti_700.jpg
That's probably because your ISP re-compresses image files.

In your computing preferences set Skip image file verification? from No to Yes. If you use local advanced preferences, make sure to set it there!

It's morning again and I guess I'll squeeze in one last post on this "fetch work / not requesting tasks" issue and then it looks like I should make way for installer-related posts.
[quote]One is not processing GPU tasks and is on BOINC v7.0.64. The other is processing nVidia GPU tasks and is on BOINC v7.0.28. Both machines are running Windows 7 x64. This seems to support the idea that this bug is unique to v7.0.64.

Sounds reasonable.

I just want to mention that I am running BOINC 7.0.64 on Windows 7 64 bit and that the transition to Seti@home v7 worked flawlessly for me. My log indicates that BOINC has been running 24/7 since the midth of May.

As a matter of fact the transition went that smoothly that I didn't even notice the update until I looked at the screensaver yesterday morning and was surprised seeing Seti@home v7 in the headline.
