Probabily an "stupid" question, what i need to do to start crunching V7, i´m running CPU (Intel)/GPU x41zc apps. Anyone have a simple receipt? Thanks. (edit) I´m allready enable V7 on preferences. |

My recommendation (Subject to change after I try it) would be: - Set No New tasks - Wait until tasks all complete, upload & report - delete app_info.xml from the project directory - reset the project - Allow New tasks Extra notes: Probably need to check web options too in there somewhere [OK :)]. I'd try let the server decide amongst the compatible versions over some time with one instance per GPU (underutilised due to memory intensive Autocorrelations) then worry about multi instances after things settle in. You'd likely want either newer Recommended Boinc for that, or wait for installer for older Boinc clients to run with app_info (anonymous platform) "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. Haha, now for multiple instances, I'm going to have to either modify newer Boinc with adaptive flops/aDCF-equivalent, or backport app_config.xml support into modded 6.10.58. *sigh* "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. OK... Tried a test on my daily driver. Renamed app_info.xml to app_info.sav to save it but inactivate it. Reset the project. Restarted Boinc. Got some downloads... Now the thing is hung up trying to download the app and related files. 5/30/2013 1:15:28 AM SETI@home Started download of setiathome_6.10_windows_intelx86__cuda_fermi.exe 5/30/2013 1:15:28 AM SETI@home Started download of libfftw3f-3-1-1a_upx.dll 5/30/2013 1:15:28 AM SETI@home Started download of cudart32_30_14.dll 5/30/2013 1:15:28 AM SETI@home Started download of cufft32_30_14.dll 5/30/2013 1:15:28 AM SETI@home Started download of setiathome_6.03_windows_intelx86.exe 5/30/2013 1:15:28 AM SETI@home Started download of setigraphics_6.03_windows_intelx86.exe 5/30/2013 1:15:28 AM SETI@home Started download of astropulse_6.01_windows_intelx86.exe 5/30/2013 1:15:28 AM SETI@home Started download of ap_graphics_6.01_windows_intelx86.exe 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed download of setiathome_6.10_windows_intelx86__cuda_fermi.exe: can't resolve hostname 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Backing off 2 min 15 sec on download of setiathome_6.10_windows_intelx86__cuda_fermi.exe 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed download of libfftw3f-3-1-1a_upx.dll: can't resolve hostname 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Backing off 1 min 44 sec on download of libfftw3f-3-1-1a_upx.dll 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed download of cudart32_30_14.dll: can't resolve hostname 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Backing off 1 min 39 sec on download of cudart32_30_14.dll 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed download of cufft32_30_14.dll: can't resolve hostname 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Backing off 1 min 58 sec on download of cufft32_30_14.dll 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed download of setiathome_6.03_windows_intelx86.exe: can't resolve hostname 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Backing off 1 min 0 sec on download of setiathome_6.03_windows_intelx86.exe 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed download of setigraphics_6.03_windows_intelx86.exe: can't resolve hostname 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Backing off 1 min 0 sec on download of setigraphics_6.03_windows_intelx86.exe 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed download of astropulse_6.01_windows_intelx86.exe: can't resolve hostname 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Backing off 1 min 0 sec on download of astropulse_6.01_windows_intelx86.exe 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed download of ap_graphics_6.01_windows_intelx86.exe: can't resolve hostname 5/30/2013 1:15:29 AM SETI@home Backing off 1 min 0 sec on download of ap_graphics_6.01_windows_intelx86.exe 5/30/2013 1:15:30 AM Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. Whazzup? In addition, all the WUs show their status as downloading, although they have downloaded and are no longer in the transfers tab. Whazzup? Can't resolve host name indicates a DNS type problem. Have you got a hosts file? Any entries affecting Seti servers other than the download server? Grant Darwin NT |

Whazzup? I have no hosts file as far as I know, have never manually set one up. And what's odd is that most of the files are now showing a percentage downloaded, but the next time they try again, the can't resolve host name comes up again. I have no hosts file as far as I know, have never manually set one up. That takes that out of the equation. And what's odd is that most of the files are now showing a percentage downloaded, but the next time they try again, the can't resolve host name comes up again. Hopefully they'll all be downloaded before you need to figure out just what is going on. Grant Darwin NT |

I have no hosts file as far as I know, have never manually set one up. I am now thinking the cannot resolve host name may be a bogus message. It could be that there are just so many hosts trying to download the new files that the server is having a hard time responding to the requests. I now only have two of those files left to download, even though they are still getting that message. EDIT... Got them all now. I found the first host getting ATI V7 work with unsupported drivers. He is running Cat 11.11 SDK 2.5 while SDK 2.6 is required. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=6766783 With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Is it possible to download the new optimized apps somewhere without the installer, i.e. just a zip file with all needed files inside, like it was possible before? Some of us don't need installers, that do more than it's actually needed... |
