It can be a timing thing - requesting too frequently can result in some strange, undesirable, effects, so be patient - one of my crunchers was doing the same earlier in the week, but is now bouncing off the limits for both CPU & GPU. I really suspect that Boinc is not asking for more than that for whatever reason. The servers are not being stingy about handing work out. Let me see if I can find the debug info for ya. OK... I think this is it. Add to your cc_config file. <work_fetch_debug> Try that, reboot Boinc, and see if it starts giving you more details about the actual workfetch requests. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

If there is an issue with the workfetch deferrals, in BOINC 6.10 is very easy to clear them. Just set the project to No New tasks, do a manual update (after the 5 mins delay ended) and then resume the work fetch and wait until the delay is over to do another update (it should start autmatically if your cache is low)... If this doesn't make you get more tasks, then you will need to debug it using the advanced techniques... ![]() |

Add to your cc_config file. Actually it is: <work_fetch_debug>1</work_fetch_debug> and it goes in the flags section, not the options section. There are some other debug flags that might help, but the output can be verbose and hard to interpret. http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?view=91&sessionID=2e1173778d098ab83bdf76903021b47d Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. ![]() |

Add to your cc_config file. Thanks, Fred. I wondered about that. Try this, Vic. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

ok. I wasn't sure if valids were still counted in the total after validation. Next straw then. |

I think this means it is NOT asking for work...... SETI@home 4/12/2013 1:08:20 PM [wfd] request: 333543.21 sec CPU (0.00 sec, 0.00) "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

Ok I put up 2 or 3 files in 3 or 4 entries in the following thread: Have you already tried the set Use NVIDIA GPU to no and do some requests trick yet? SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours ![]() |

I think this means it is NOT asking for work...... I make it that Boinc is only asking for a day's work, try increasing the cache setting to 5 days. (345600.00 seconds devided by 60 makes 5,760 minutes, devided by 60 makes 96 hours, devided by four cores makes 24 hours.) Claggy |

Oh, Jesus, Vic. Folks are just trying to help you sort things. If you wanna go, just do it without fanfare. Unless I misread you and you are just talking about a detach and reattach. Sorry if I overreacted in that case. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

Yes...and actually, now that I think about it, a detach and reattach might not be a bad thing to try. Given that the download speed is so fast, and work availability is so good now, that might not be a bad gamble, Vic. You have little to lose in trying, and your GPU will be full of work in no time at all. Whatcha think? I really am on your side, my friend. Wonderful.... Hopefully you have broken the logjam then. What's important to remember, Vic, is that there is no end of potential help here when you ask for it. I KNOW how frustrating it can be when things are broken. But, just look at how many posts there are to this thread since you first reported your problem 3 hours ago. Ok I put up 2 or 3 files in 3 or 4 entries in the following thread: It is a known issue with BOINC. Where it will fill the GPU cache over the CPU cache. I think there was some work done server side to try and correct this, but it may only be effective with newer versions of BOINC. Once you have CPU tasks again reenable GPU fetch and then see how it goes. With the 100 task limits you might have to lower your queue settings to prevent it from doing it again. Also important to remember is that these forums are not exactly real time. The person that might have been able to correctly answer his first post may have been in bed and might not see it for another couple of hours. I think it's best to wait a day for all time zones to have time to read the forum before going into antsy frustrated mode. |

Ok I put up 2 or 3 files in 3 or 4 entries in the following thread: Anonymous/3rd party apps work with BOINC v7. I'm not sure where you might have gotten the idea they don't. I don't know if the issue doesn't exist when using 6.12.xx or 7.0.xx, but I have not seen anyone talking about having this issue for quite a while. I think it is suggested you run dry before switching to BOINC v7 if you are thinking about that. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours ![]() |

This is the reason to at least run down your GPU work http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=71160 |
