I have to note the passing of everyone of note in these Seti person's history lately? It is going to come more rapidly than ever as we get older. She loved to love you, baby. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

You have spoiled us, Mark. I, for one, am so used to you posting music-related news and clips, and since you are on the boards before I am most days, I just don't think to post such news. I was not a fan of Disco as a genre, but some songs and artists I enjoyed and remembered, Donna Summer and Barry White being two that come immediately to mind. Theirs was NOT the mindless, repetitive dreck that so much of disco (and rap/hip-hip) is to me. (IMNSHO - de gustibus non disputandum est, as Dr. Asimov was wont to say) Another candle extinguished too soon. Thanks much, Donna. Have fun in Heaven. I was in the disco era when it came about. High heeled disco boots....LOL. I could not dance much, but I actually DJ'd at a few clubs back then. Played a lot of her music. Now don't get me wrong, I would not say that Donna was an incredible talent, certainly did not have the vocal talents of Whitney Houston, but she was commercially very successful in that day and age. And with my memories of her music rocking the house, I shall miss her. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Listening to "I feel love" still transports me back to a disco in Turin in late '77, where I first heard it. It felt like I was covered in goose-bumps when I heard it and I can remember lots of people queueing to ask the DJ who the record was by. Being a Kraftwerk fan, it was, for me, sublime. For once, perhaps I might beg to differ with Mark; Donna Summer was, in my opinion a more accomplished singer than Whitney Houston - maybe not as 'showy' with the vocals but she had a greater range to her talents. I guess this is one of the bad bits about getting older....one by one the lights go out. Thanks for the wonderful memories..... Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |
