If it is properly requesting work but just not getting any, that could be due to the fact that the servers are handing work out as fast as they can right now.
Lots of shorty WUs currently. So they are getting sent out and back to the servers in short order, and work is spread pretty thin right now.

If the work request results in a message from the servers saying no work is available with no other error indicated, you may not have a problem at all.

You're using stock apps. There are no official GPU apps for Linux.

Well....your first post did not ask that.
Hence my reply. I am not a Linux user, so I missed that fact.

What you need then, is help from somebody who is running Linux, knows where to get the GPU apps, if available, and help you to install them.

There are some Linux gurus about the place.
Hopefully somebody can help you.

Good luck getting it sorted!

Thanks, and the sarcasm was to the other guy who was stating the obvious. You on the other hand have been more than helpful :)

No problemo.
If I was using Linux I'd try to help you out, but I'm just a Winders guy.

the question is going through my head right now, shall i, shall i not. Its all the AV solutions etc. If i could remote desktop onto linux machines from this one after reinstalling windows i would!

But i think it would be easier to set up the GPU than remote desktop!

If I was stating the obvious, then perhaps you should have asked the question more clearly. How am I to know you are aware that there's no official GPU app for Linux? Your original post gave no indication of the fact.

Main thing is that we now get a Linux dude in here that can get him up and running.

Saturu has already posted in one of the OP's other threads saying how to find out more, this is after Richard posting that 'there's no plug-and-play solution here at SETI for GPUs under Linux yet'

Why he then has to start another thread and ask what's he's doing wrong is beyond me.

No offense Mark, but I was just confused on how I was unhelpful when I caught the bit about Linux and stock apps, but you were helpful yet missed that fact.

Not saying you're not helpful, of course, we both know you are. I just don't think my help warranted sarcasm. If he was aware he's running stock apps, and he's aware that there's no GPU app for Linux, then it would stand to reason that he should have asked where to get GPU apps for Linux. Maybe he doesn't want to run a third-party app for all I know... ?

Well, maybe he just took it wrong. We all do that.... You know how it can be when translating one's thoughts to text.
Like I said, main thing is to get him on track.

My nickname is Sutaru.. ;-)

Ricky, in Message 1153134 I already mentioned how to find infos about the Linux GPU app.
The most members use Windows, I also, so I can't help more.

We have volunteer members which made/make optimized applications.
The forum is there:
lunatics.kwsn.net/gpu-crunching
lunatics.kwsn.net/linux
You should find there more/also infos.

Maybe one Linux member can help you more..

I guess it's already mentioned well. But maybe little bit more..
SETI@home have no officially GPU app for Linux OS.
If you would like to crunch on a GPU on Linux, you need to install a 3rd party app manually.

This sounds very much like the error messages a lot of us are getting atm. As Mark said, the servers are flatout catching up after a week of outages.

I'm only picking up work about 1 try in 8 so continuing patience is recommended :-)

Would be interested to know what app your using. I've had success with both GTS250's and GTX580's under Mandriva.

Sorry Sutaru,

I have a feeling that Ricky's Linux host is 32bit, while the Linux Cuda Seti apps that are available are 64bit,

Thanks guys, I bit the bullet and went back to windows and it appears the GPU is still not working. Ozz, perhaps i picked you up wrong but i was really asking how i should get around the problem.

I was far enough ahead to note that i was using stock aps and linux to which i am aware is an unsupported combination. But my real point is that other people have gotten around it.

Perhaps my question was aimed at the wrong audience. My apologies, particuarly to Ozz.
