Yes...I have looked at the main page. There has been no update on the main page of the status of the splitters. There are rumors that it is back up on other discussion threads...but I guess those are only rumors. Thanks.

Not a rumor - work has been available for at least 12 hours now. I've got over 400 tasks. If you're not getting work, check messages / event log. Some users are unable to connect due to a router problem.

I've monitored the posts over the last few days and those who have received work are fortunate as I've nothing and communication is deferred for 5 min. I've lots of Rosetta to process, but no Seti. :(

I've lots of Rosetta to process, but no Seti. :(



You're connecting to scheduler most of the time, but BOINC isn't asking for work. It may be that it thinks you already have plenty with the Rosetta work. I assume from your average daily credits on your projects that BOINC is only running a few hours a day. Increasing your setting for days on hand might get a task request, if you are sure you can get all the Rosetta work done by the deadlines.

Other things that make BOINC not ask for work (may not apply to you):
- any task suspended by the user
- pending uploads > 2x # of cpu cores

Thanks for the reply. Both my PCs are running 24/7 and it makes sense that with the Rosetta workload why nothing from Seti is loading. I'll mark 'no new tasks' for Rosetta until there is little to process and see what happens with Seti. Thanks again! :)

There are 26 messages "Windows is suspending operations" in the log you posted!

Obviously you have set the computer (and not only the monitor) to sleep
so you can't say (it's not true) that the "PCs are running 24/7".

You think you have problems! I have downloaded BOINC, but cannot get it to work because it wants me to log on and asks for password! I used to have an old SETI account and it seems to still work, I believe? But I want the Latest version, or new account, have done so with SETI. Yet I still can't fully grasp as to how I link the two up. I did get BOINC to accept my SETI project, or so I thought. Gone! Vanished! And I still can't find an easy to understand guide as to how to set this up properly. I have an older HP Windows Vista Home Premium(32 bit), 2 gigs memory,and plenty of disk space. I have been using my standard user and went into all BOINC properties and added my standard user as well as my administrator rights to the security! Don't know if this was wise, but did it anyway. I'm not a geek, but also not new to computers. In fact I like to think I am pretty well learned and can multitask online, and computer with no problems! Anyone out there that can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, my computer passes Gibson's "Test My Ports" with flying colors! States that as far as anyone (internet wise) can tell, my computer does not exist! Which is where we All want it. I will check my firewalls and any other antivirus to see if it helps, yet I still think they should have an easy guide for us. Thanx, Richard H.

The descriptions of the problems are not accurate enough to tell us what the problems might be. So we will have to ask a few questions.

1) When was the old account created?

2) Does the UI display anything at all?
2a) If so, is there anything in the messages? (Advanced view, Messages).

Currently your computer has one task downloaded and has contacted the server today (2 Sep 2011 | 14:44:05 UTC). So, if BOINC would "think" you'd need more tasks, it would have asked for them.

What is the status of the SETI@home project in your Projects tab (BOINC manager advanced view)?

Have you found the BOINC event log yet? :-)

There should be one task listed in your Tasks tab: 17ap11af.8153.4157.3.10.223_0 sent on 30 Aug 2011 | 22:47:05 UTC
At least, it's shown as "In progress" in your task list.

That would be the Status column in your Projects tab.

I can't see any, besides from no tasks being started and no work being requested.

What's in your cc_config.xml file?

What happens when you click the Update button in the Projects tab?

cc_config.xml is completely optional as is the local prefs file. These can both be found in the BOINC data directory. The path to the BOINC data directory is one of the first 10 lines in the BOINC message tab after a reboot.

Please note that Microsoft by default hides one of the directories on the path to the BOINC data folder.

That looks good.

If the download doesn't go through, try a reboot of your computer and the DSL router.

I cannot find the cc_config.xml file and when I click on Read config file or Local prefs file I get nothing

I have mistaken the "Re-reading cc_config.xml" message from your log as a sign for a core client config file, but BOINC gives that message when you click "Read config file" regardless if one exists or not.

I now have two work units running.

The strange thing is in this version of Seti-6.12.33 I do not have a message
tab as John McLeod VIII mentioned. I had in earlier versions and could see what
was going on. It looks like the event log has replaced it as it has the same content

Hi, I downloaded BOINC so I could participate in the Seti@Home project. I downloaded the BOINC manager and when I go to projects I get "Scheduler request in progress" and then "Communication deferred". Sometimes it's deferred for a few minutes sometimes for a couple of hours. I can't get into the project to participate. Am I doing something wrong. Please help.
