Hello Friends. Here is your new contest. Eric and I currently have 58 season passes on our TIVO (...a number which, I must sheepishly admit, is way too much tv time for two people who claim to have a "life of the mind.") Some of the season passes for tv shows are mine, some are Eric's and some we enjoy together. After reviewing our season passes, I noticed that Eric has 10 passes to currently running shows that I simply will not watch, EVER! I would rather fold laundry, wash dishes and/or scoop the cat boxes than watch even 5 minutes of these television shows. Name those ten shows. |

As I don't watch TV anymore, this will really be a challange. I would guess, the ten are in the fantatsy arena or SF. Would Eric watch Project Runway? Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

Would Eric watch Project Runway? Only if Project Runway were a show about airplanes... |

Ok, we are getting somewhere. Is the Bass Channel on the NO watch list? Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

I'm sorry, you must be more specific than "the bass channel". I'm trolling for shows, not channels. |

Are you sure the Seti show should go live? Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

Angela, based on a similar situation on our PVDR, I would guess the following: Any of the Stargate series Any of the Star Trek series Fishing With ______ (fill in the blank) Doctor Who Greatest Tank Battles of All Time Generals WW2 in Color We don't get the US SF station on cable here, so there could be a bunch there I'm missing. And I'll go out on a limb (not knowing Eric) and add anything NASCAR. (In our house it would be anything Formula 1. You can actually set our PVDR to record anything with "Formula 1" anywhere in the title or description, any channel, any time. I love technology.) |

Well Angela, I'll have to pass on this one as I have no idea what a TIVO or season pass is, lest of all any knowlege of USA TV shows ;-) Chris and John, I am so sorry. I completely overlooked the fact that this thread has several regular players who are not in the USA. I am deeply sorry. I will end this silly contest now and declare a winner tonight. The winner is Bill Walker with 2 points! My list of the Dreaded Ten, not in any particular order, includes: 1. Stargate Universe - point to Bill!!! (Ok, ok... I'll admit that initially I enjoyed Stargate, but now they are just getting silly. If I were not a happily married woman though, I would be out looking for somebody like Daniel Jackson, the universe's most hunky archaeologist! Are you with me on this one lady-crunchers?) 2. Futurama - please, oh please, somebody make that show go away!!! I loathe it!!! 3. The Venture Brothers - I believe that one must be extremely intoxicated to best appreciate that show. I really cannot afford to get that drunk on a work night. 4. Smallville - Hmmm, did all that happen in the REAL Superman? I super hate that show! 5. Warehouse 13 - point to Jim! Good guess, buddy! 6. An Idiot Abroad - England, you should be ashamed of yourself!!! 7. Onion Sports Dome - I don't watch a lot of sports, so a sports spoof show does nothing for me... 8. River Monsters - point to Bill who referenced fishing shows 9. Star Wars - The Clone Wars - Hate it! Hate it! Hate it! 10. Game of Thrones - I don't remember what it is. I just remember that I don't like it. Sending Bill a pm now. Again, sorry for my nationalistic blinders. I'll be far more careful if I ever win again. |

What? To be honest, i didn't see the TV version yet, but the book is a masterpiece! The whole A Song of Ice and Fire series is super. |

Never mind it was a good try, Angela. I could add the most boring Stargate series is - Stargate Universe. We do see Stargate, Futureama and Wharehouse 13 ... not watched any of them. The one I see, and look at in very small boring doses is ... Everyone Loves Raymond. With a title like that then an assassin is likely to be sent in to the mix (with any luck). It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

OK, thanks for your patience everybody. Sticking with Angela's theme, here is your assignment: How many TV channels does the Walker household currently receive? It might be cable or satellite or sub-space tachyon transceivers, I'm not telling. It includes some music channels through the same service. And it includes some channels that apparently Eric likes but Angela doesn't. If nobody gets it exactly in a few days I'll award this to the closest guess. |
