Message 1102717 - Posted: 2 May 2011, 12:26:29 UTC - in response to Message 1102686.

A opportunity to show a bit of sensitivity to the Muslim world: return his body to his family in Saudi Arabia.

According to CBS News, the Saudi Kingdom didn't want his remains. (This would suggest the offer was made.) He's been buried at sea, ostensibly "in accordance with Muslim traditions".

I think the actual quote is buried within 24 hours, which is a muslim tradition, at sea. They didnt want to have a grave for people to mourn over and declare gihad

Bury Him on US soil not facing Mecca.

NO! Bury him over there with full military honors. I know none of his followers would, but we don't sink to their level. Confuse the jihad right out of them.

OK, now I'm in: Gary, where do we join the group of followers you have? Ha ha!

Do you think the fish will throw him back?

No way, but I'll doubt if the fish will eat him and survive, they threw him in the ocean
so no funeral or worse, something to remember him and make a 'saint'
out of this sick character and "his Al Qaida".

And how many years, did Pakistan give this character a way to live in luxury
instead of a Court, like Sadam Hoessein and put him in yail* or dead penalty?

*Yail, wouldn't be possible for a thousand reasons, or more.

But I'll drink to this achievement!

I want to start a conspiracy.

What if... he's not really dead. What if we've been told this so people will stop looking for him. What if we have him and are in the process of interrogating and gleening info out of him. what if Frogs had wings... they wouldn't bump their butts when they jump

The actual quote from the CBS News report is: "U.S. officials (said) that bin Laden's body would be handled in accordance with Muslim traditions, which include strict rules on burial taking place within 24 hours after death."

(Emphasis added.)

There are additional rites associated with Islamic funerals.

This burial at sea has provoked a debate, even amongst Islamic scholars.

I'm wondering about the reaction from the Skyman over burying Bin Laden in such a manner as proposed by VW Bobier.
Since both religions pray to the same dude in the clouds, will the Skyman be pleased or angered?

Here we have "Skyman" and "dude in the clouds" ... . Obvious attempts at mockery, rather than asking questions.
However, in the end, despite it's poor presentation, Robert actually asks a good question here. [I know, he'll overlook that I said this. :)]
Then again, Muslim's are the one's that claim they worship the same God that Christians do. I wonder what most Christians' take on this is?

Personally I believe burial at sea was the best option. He'll be martyred by his followers but they'll have no place to make a "shrine" for him....

I saw this on a Facebook page today:

Osama you are with your 72 virgins now but since you don't believe in Homosexuality, I hope they are 72 male, unwashed, stinky hairy virgins with one especially big one named Bubba waiting for you saying, "Come here b*tch. I'm gonna show you what I did to Saddam."

I'd prefer him to have 72 virgin pigs.

I just spoke to a relative of Terry Pelino who I went to High School with. He was killed in the Towers.

If anything positive is to come of Bin Laden's death, remember he masterminded 9/11. In that respect, justice truely has been served. I just hope this offers 9/11 friends/families some sense of long awaited closure

Curious that Osama's death will provide so many Americans closure because he is the face of their hatred, but at the same time his death will do nothing to quell the hatred that caused the attacks of September 11th, 2001.

Christianity, Judaism and Islam all pray to the same God as Abraham did. They all branched off from the same trunk.

I do not feel good about celebrating the death of anyone, but I am satisfied that Bin Laden has been afforded the justice that fits his evil actions. I understand he was given the opportunity to surrender, which would have led to a trial that his followers would have (logically) pointed out he could not win, so his decision to be "martyred" seems to have ended in the better result.

As for his burial, the US was right to afford him all the rites of Muslim burial. After all, we are not fighting Islam, we are fighting terrorists . . . many of whom are Muslim.

Robert's use of mocking terms for God does not bother me. The God that I believe in allows us the ability to believe or not. If we had no choice in the matter we would not be human. Robert does not believe in God, but that has no impact on my own decision, which I believe is the better one. Though I am not Christian, I believe that the "Muslim God" is the same as the "Jewish" and "Christian God". Historically and traditionally all three religions stem from Abraham.

[Edit]: I have to add that it is a very good thing that the intelligence which led to this operation panned out (a white house spokesman called it good "circumstantial" evidence).

Wasn't there a branch of monks that spent their whole lives doing nothing but writing down the different names of God? Wonder if they have Skyman and Dude in the clouds on their list?

And that was one of the most logical options, making him dissapear, but also make sure, it was Osama Bin Laden, thats also why, his villa wasn't bommed ,
but raided. And shot through the head, identified and thrown into the sea!

And I can only agree, ;-) , with former speaker, since he was lucky enough, to get shot and end up dead. (a lot of terrorists have and will be through far more 'HELL', then they expected or bargained for, probably never enough!
But all 'helps' in these sad cases.
Hope, research, will be able to put a stop, to all these 'sick-people', born (intentually?) and 'infected' with this 'terrorist infection'.......
(I know NOT the 'normal way', but there are somethings, that somewhow, has to put to a full HALT, at all costs!)

Revelations 13:1 "Then out of the sea I saw a beast rising. It had ten horns and seven heads."

The beast will recover from a head wound, as if by miracle. A second beast will descend from space and order that we worship an image of the first beast.

This is why the space shuttle program is ending, and why the Allen Array has shut down.

Get ready to meet ET.... It's Satan.

For now he's in the ocean. And cannot make very much conclusions as to what will
happen.

And i'm too sober to see some beasts, rise out of the sees, sorry.......

And, I've had it, with all those violent events. Time to think of something totally
different.......
