I hope you dont think I was trolling up action. I plan on finishing up my 1million here after polishing off my 100 mill on primegrid and use my freed up GPU's here to make the journey a little faster. I simply wanted to say that an easy way to drum up crunchers if the projected needed more would be to raise the credits. My City |

My apologies, you weren't trolling. If you take a look at past threads or present graphs http://fragment1.berkeley.edu/newcricket/grapher.cgi?target=%2Frouter-interfaces%2Finr-250%2Fgigabitethernet2_3;ranges=d;view=Octets you'd notice that most of the time S@H is "up" the bandwidth is saturated. They'd need a bigger pipe before they could accommodate more crunching capacity. |

I just crunch to crunch, maybe I find something, maybe I don't. Doesn't matter. My lowly little computers are on all the time anyhow, gives them something to do other than waste electricity. |

Right now each one of my GTX570's are pulling 600,000 credits a day on primgrid.. From what I've seen elsewhere, DNETC appears to be the highest paying (if I can use that word loosley) project. Some will crunch for a pet project or two, others will crunch for total BOINC credit and position and Projects compete for resources based on credit yield ... its just the market at work ... |

While the cross-project credit granding discrepancies frustrate me for the exact reason in your thread title, I do this for the science and because I enjoy the atomosphere of other like-minded invididuals who "gently persuade" each other to squeeze that extra bit of performance out of their setups. Having said that, I suppose I'm biased given the team I crunch for, but it's the community here that keeps me coming back and "caring" about my performance :) Truth be told, given that stretching my e-peen isn't high on my agenda, every now and then I do look at my total FLOP count and go "awww yeee, big numbers there :D time to see how long it takes me to get to X" and so on and so forth. I just don't share the info with other people :p well, except for now >_< |

I don't really care what other projects award for credits. I crunch Seti. Some guy comes along and says "Oh, I make 300k credits a day on one GPU." Well, I DON'T. I make around 200k a day using 13 GPUs. Because I crunch Seti. That's why I am proud of the numbers I keep up here. Because I know they are not overinflated. Other projects can award whatever bogus numbers they wish if it gives their participants something to crow about. I'm not going there. I crunch Seti. Meow. Am I the only one who read that as a poem? >_> |

I agree with you Mark. I only crunch other projects if seti is offline for longer period. One of the reasons i have a huge cache. I´m simply not interested in other projects. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Am I the only one who read that as a poem? >_> Mark has been known to commit poesy to make a point. And sometimes just because the spirits move him. Running 2 ancient Mac G4s, I am definitely not a threat to dethrone any of the high-RAC/high-credit crunchers. Do I care about my credits? Yeah. a little. But that isn't why I am here. I'm here because I wanna be, because it's fun (most of the time), because I believe in the project, and because of the people here. Let the credit-hogs go to the projects that "pay" more. Until we get a bigger data pipe, we have about as many participants as the project can handle. We don't NEED to pay more to attract more crunchers. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Right now each one of my GTX570's are pulling 600,000 credits a day on primgrid.. Well stay on PrimeGrid then as we don't need anymore here as the system here is pretty well maxed out ATM with those of us already being happy here. ;) Cheers. |

I crunch because it is awesome that I can help do science in my limited little way. The credits are measure performance. I do track myself against others within project, but I think of it as friendly competition. Across different projects, I only look at how I divide up my own processing time. So many cool projects, so little flops. :p Seti@home was my first and still favorite. I concentrate mostly on the astronomy projects, with a few others for my 2 old ancient PCs that need WUs with shorter run times. |

Before Sten Arni says it ... I've had it with low credits here. I'll give S@H just two or three more decades to clear this up. Or I'm outta here. Four decades tops. |

Seti's still the big kahuna in my book but I've spread my wings a bit... |

Before Sten Arni says it ... Aye IMHO once the credit ratio has been set for a project, it is pretty much set in stone from there on. Credits keep track of how much work has been contributed. What do 1 million credits earned in five years of crunching mean if the multiplier gets changed down the road and the same amount can be accreted with 25% of the original effort ? S@H is about science and I am deeply impressed with the project's accomplishments. Even if no signal is found the project has advanced astro and computer sciences tremendously for comparatively insignificant costs, and that is why it gets my cycles. To me credits fall into the statistics category and, like baseball, the stats are sometimes more interesting than the games. The fact that multiple external stat sites exist proves the point. I like my S@H credits just the way they are :). mambo |

I'd STILL crunch Seti even if they gave zero credit! Why? because I believe in the project and I enjoy mixing with the people here in the various forums. I've also met a number of great people face to face and I'll be meeting more shortly. But having said that I do crunch other Boinc projects as well, as do other members of my team. Some I do for the credit and some for the science, and of course it is very satisfying to pass various milestones. Well, I agree on that one, a nice way to do something usefull and also good for the mind keeping busy. Never understoot people who gor angry or upset, when they have a lot of Pending. Or when the SERVERS go down on friday. But it is nice to see a lot of Valid Results and the credits. Had a 300+K RAC with Collatz C., Milkyway and DNETC, but I wanted to use then on SETI, for MB, also AP, which I've done in the (near) past. I had to remove the 5770 & 5870, cause I couldn't get the MB app. working and had too many family problems. PSU is too small, also. Make it 4C ;-) |

I have been with Seti for a number of years now... I don't intend to "compete" with all of the number crunching factories that are out there.... i just have a laptop and a desktop at my home .... when you complain about not getting your numbers and you want your numbers increased you are forgetting about us little people who donate our precious little resources we have In other words "be happy with what you have ..." |

oh by the way the word "Donate" means in context to "give as a gift" I expect nothing in return when I give a gift ... it is out of my heart because I care about that person, organization or project I am on... If you want your credits it might raise your worth in your own eyes to see the numbers you produce .... but that is you .... I will continue to "donate" time and resources and hold nothing over anyone as a threat |
