Just spotted these pages detailing a new Android app apparently for SETI@home

called SetiQuest Explorer

it appears to be more a visual inspection than traditional crunching

app is still in beta

http://android-apps.com/articles/reviews/setiquest-explorer-2/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PlanetAndroidCom+%28Planet+Android%29

and

http://android-apps.com/applications/education/setiquest-explorer/

not sure how this fits in with SETI@Home but may be somebody else has more info?

and its sponsored by Adobe
Tim

AFAIK, setiQuest has nothing to do with SETI@home.

Weird? They claim to be, but they aren't!

The SETI@home (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) project, developed by The Hathersage Group, and sponsored by Adobe Systems, has been using the computing power of the world’s PCs for a long time now for their project to find alien life. Now you can contribute the computing power of your Android phone to the project and help the SETI team with their quest. The app runs on Android 2.2 (or higher) and is coming to the Android first (take that iPhone fans).

It looks more like a gimmick than anything to me. Not to mention my Incredible wouldn't have enough battery to make it last long enough to matter lol.

*Edit*
Yup gimmick, you have to use a Facebook name to log into the app. Upon installing it also asks for rights to full access to the internet connection on your phone. It also gets access to all your contact information and friend via that connection and rights granting. Just a waste.

Next time you wonder if it's legit try going to http://market.android.com on your computer, not the phone, and look through everything. People tell you whats up with it. Link on this app.

I came across this bit of info from clicking a link on the website posted by the OP:

As seen on CBS news! A project of the SETI Institute, developed by the Hathersage Group with sponsorship from Adobe Systems. Browse through SETI targets in space, then view recent radio telescope data from the target and indicate where you see patterns. Be a citizen scientist! Help with the search.

Currently in a private beta period, while we work out the kinks and scale up. Install the app, then register using your Facebook credentials, and we'll email you with an invitation soon.

Requires Facebook account. Uses AIR for Android.

Got this from

So no, its not SETI@home, its from SETI Institute.
