I am a 61 year old retired lawyer. I don't get to the forums much anymore, but that kenzieB flap is much ado about nothing. |

So nice to see this thread pop up because I am very much a coffee drinker. It definitely helps me wake up in the mornings although I don't always make a lot of sense for quite a long time afterwards :) |

Hi Anniet, Rocky was a friend of mine who I never met in person, but chatted with many times here. He and I both served in the Navy, a long time ago, where groups of sailors would often form a "coffee club" to share the expense of making a pot of coffee (or more) for their members each morning. There are very few restrictions to posting on these boards and those are observed here, but other than that all are welcome. PS, I am not a Jedi Knight. |

And I am not Princess Leia :) (could never get my hair that organised for a start) My grandfather on my mum's side was an officer working on the submarines during the second world war. Apparently he never spoke about his experiences and lost a lot of friends during that time. The man that went to war was not the same man that came back, and it's always left me with a sad feeling. I imagine strong bonds are formed - and I can't help thinking there must have been a part of him that felt isolated and very lonely without someone to "have coffee with" who shared similar experiences to him. It's nice you and Rocky found each other here. I imagine if the internet had been around before my grandad died, he may have, in his last years, smiled more readily than he did. |

With that avatar I can't ever read anything you write without hearing Liam Neeson's voice in my head. Qui-Gon also has a very unique set of skills. me@rescam.org |

With that avatar I can't ever read anything you write without hearing Liam Neeson's voice in my head. I recall some folks saying my avatar and nom-de-plume were "unfortunate", though no one ever explained why that was. |

What a great ski trip! The night before our first skiing day the Sierras got about a foot of new snow, which was a lot for this winter. We didn't know, looking at conditions before leaving home, if there would be any snow at all so we were very happy. Those of us who went to San Francisco for a few days before the Tahoe portion also got three very sunny days there, which many of you know can be rare for that city. |

Off to Australia in a few months. My singing group will be performing with choruses from other countries. It should be fun. |

Just Sydney, but the trip will include local sightseeing in addition to (and in between) the performances. My choir will sing in four venues in Sydney, and all the choirs get together for a single performance of a piece that should be impressive--a few hundred voices can be stirring. |

My group is very talented, yet they let me sing with them. It's like being invited to a great party when you hardly know anyone--just remain inconspicuous and don't do anything stupid, then you may have a good time. |

By inconspicuous I presume you mean remembering to sing the same song as everyone else :) When you say Sydney, would all the choirs be singing in the opera house? Even if not, it sounds really exciting! :) |

All the choirs will have a chance in the Opera House, but perhaps not on the same day. I don't know where the massed choir will sing, but it will have to be a big venue for the chorus and orchestra. |

Can't imagine a better place than the opera house for that - but I'm not sure what it's capacity is. Nearest I've ever come was when I was at school, and several school choirs collaborated on a big performance of the Radetsky March, I think it was, at some Town Hall or other. Each choir prepared separately and then we had one rehearsal about an hour before the performance. There were problems :) |

'Stralia Bai-bee! The Opera house was the best hall I've ever sung in: great acoustics and great feed back for the performers. |
