It's like Christmas morning for all of us ATI/AMD Users!! :) I'd like to send Raistmer a HUGE thanks for all the work he does with the ATI apps. He's been sending me betas for a few weeks now and each one has been better and faster than the last. I'm so glad that other ATI users can join the party now. I have a 6950 sitting here that will get to put this application through the paces starting tomorrow, along with my 5870 and 5770. Now get busy ATI owners, we have a LOT of catching up to do! ;) -baron_iv Proud member of: GPU Users Group |

What would be a better and compatible match, a 4850 and 5870, or 5770 and 5870? Ondifference, the 5770 cards are Single Precision, It looked if both card-type would work. Still probable better to use the 5770 & 5870 GPU; WIN XP32BIT Pro; Q6600 CPU. I'll start up testing the AP, cause I've did this before, but an (ATI)MB is new, so another challenge, the cards are 'only doing Collatz C.', time for something different. On my XP64 host, CPU(@3.5GHz), DRAM 5.5.5.14-2T; 385MHz(Stick);FSB 1535MHz) GTX470+GTX480 (stock)Aircooled(No Case?!?) Had problems with the 4850 and 5870 with SDK 2.3, GPUz displayed, 'nothing' , which appeared to be right after 100 DnetC WU's, probably much more, too fast, SETI WU's, too. By then, I thought to take a few days off............ But my question remains, a 4850+5870 or 5770+5870??? |

Well, seti only needs single-precision. However, if you want to do other distributed computing tasks, you'll need to look into whether they require single or double precision. Honestly, you might be better off saving your dollars and getting another 5870, or 5850 rather than a 4870 or 57xx. That way you have double precision, and if you game, you can run them in SLI, which would make you a bit more future-resistant (nothing is future-proof, unfortunately). The 58xx series is dropping in price right now as the companies are trying to get them off the shelves in order to make room for the 6xxx series from AMD. If you're stuck on the 48xx vs the 57xx, and you don't need double precision, then I'd say the 57xx, but if it were me, I'd get a 58xx. :) -baron_iv Proud member of: GPU Users Group |

I love making things work. If it does work, it should be quite snappy too. :) But ty for the warning. -baron_iv Proud member of: GPU Users Group |

But my question remains, a 4850+5870 or 5770+5870??? 5770+5870 is better. With 2 HD5xxx cars you will be able to use HD5 build on both and with HD4xxx+HD5xxx you will be limited with non-HD5 build for both GPUs. |

[quoye][quote] Well, then a 5770 & 5870 will be the 'better match', both 5000 series. Attempting to set it all up, drivers, SDK 2.3?, required? |

I paid $350+ for my 5850 and they are now around $200 In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Is their any chance of an SSE1 build for anyone like me daft enough to be still running an XP 3000 rig (or similar box) like me. GPU is a 4650 in an AGP slot. I have been watching the beta testing thread in the hope that i could crunch MB on that GPU, maybe should have spoken sooner. edit - OS is XP home 32 bit. |

Thank you oh gods of MultiBeam! :-D Now that my HD5750 can crunch more than AP, I have to figure out what to do with the new GTS450 that arrived today. |

Try to install ATi SDK 2.3 on it then run CLInfo from that SDK. Try to run other pre-compiled samples - will they run? |

I already have my XP3200 with it's HD4650 configured with Cat 10.12 (AGP Hotfix version) and SDK_2.3, GPU-Z doesn't report OpenCL support, and CLinfo crashes on start, so it looks like both our hosts are going to be limited to doing Hybrid Astropulse only, Claggy |

Separate SDK 2.3 install not required, APP drivers include SDK, Claggy |

The system and software are almost identical to Claggy`s and has the same results. I have played with this thing all day and had a good read on AMD site (and anywhere i could google to) the 4650 has only `beta` support for opencl app`s, so long story short i have no chance of it working, SSE3 is a must have for this app. unfortunatly i think i have broken somthing today as the gpu and memory clock speeds keep varying to as little as 165 mhz instead of 600mhz, though that is somthing for a differant thread tommorow. |

Firstly, thanks to everyone involved with making applications for ATi GPUs available. I have a question regarding my hybrid Radeon/GeForce system: is it possible that having the two different video cards together is causing a conflict for ATi/OpenCL? The GeForce runs CUDA which is nVidia-exclusive, but OpenCL is cross-platform, so I fear the application may be having trouble distinguishing between my two cards. Running on device number: 0 Priority of worker thread raised successfully Priority of process adjusted successfully, below normal priority class used OpenCL platform detected: NVIDIA Corporation OpenCL platform detected: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. BOINC assigns 0 device, slots 0 to 0 (including) will be checked Used slot is 0; Error : Building Program (clBuildProgram):main kernels: not OK code -11 Internal error: clc compiler invocation failed. Make sure ATISTREAMSDKROOT is set Does anyone have any idea why I am receiving this error? ATISTREAMSDKROOT is indeed set, as done through the ATi OpenCL installation. I'm running Catalyst/OpenCL 11.1 on a Radeon HD 4850. I also never got the recent Astropulse ATi/OpenCL application working either. Attempting to run the application resulted in repeated "exited with zero status but no 'finished' file" messages. I can run the older Hybrid Brook version of Astropulse just fine. Soli Deo Gloria |
