Hi

I had some issues 3-4 weeks ago getting one of my machines to recognise that it had a CUDA capable GPU, and finally (after some help from this forum) managed to get Boinc 6.10.58 installed. This was during the long Seti outage so I had no real way of knowing whether it was really fixed or not. However now that we are up and running again this particular machine requests work from Seti@home but is never able to actually download any as it gives the following message(s)

Core2Duo

126	SETI@home	30/12/2010 18:11:10	Started download of setiathome-6.09_cuda_COPYING
127	SETI@home	30/12/2010 18:11:10	Started download of seti_609.jpg
128	SETI@home	30/12/2010 18:11:11	Temporarily failed download of setiathome-6.09_cuda_COPYING: HTTP error
129	SETI@home	30/12/2010 18:11:11	Backing off 3 hr 43 min 43 sec on download of setiathome-6.09_cuda_COPYING
130	SETI@home	30/12/2010 18:11:11	Temporarily failed download of seti_609.jpg: HTTP error
131	SETI@home	30/12/2010 18:11:11	Backing off 3 hr 7 min 10 sec on download of seti_609.jpg

I've reset the project, detached and re-attached etc. but nothing gets it beyond this message. This has been going on since the servers came back up so I don't attribute it to traffic, server load etc.

Also this PC runs Rosetta and ClimatePrediction as well with no problems so it is a Seti related setting of some sort

Advice gratefully received

Thanks

Have you rebooted the machine recently? If not, try that.

Or, try opening a command window, then typing 'ipconfig /flushdns' without the quotes.

Then start Boinc and allow it to ask for work again.

If that doesn't work, clever people will be along soon...

regards, Giz.

No this is the problem - this PC will attempt to get a WU and then just sit there for days with HTTP errors

Can you download the files manually (using the browser)?

Yes, normal PC use remains as expected - everything works properly

Not quite sure what you mean by manually downloading - I'm assuming you're checking if the PC connects/downloads as normal for everything else

No, he means getting hold of the actual files yourself.

Try these two urls:

http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/setiathome-6.09_cuda_COPYING
http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/seti_609.jpg

Right-click on each file in turn, and choose 'Save Target As...' (or whatever wording your browser uses). Then, copy the files from your default download location into the SETI@home project sub-folder. You'll need to know where to find your BOINC Data folder first - it's listed in the start-up message log each time BOINC starts.

OK I can try that - I am sure that this will work but I won't know until I try

Thanks

Thanks to those who replied

I think I have found the issue:

This computer has parental controls active and boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu is blocked by default for some odd reason.

I have added it to the Allowed List and am waiting for work to start flowing again (I hope)

Thanks
