I too have been driving in snow since I was 16, that was lets see back in 1968. The more years I drive in it the more I hate it. Where I live if we get lake effect we get 10 to 12' inches in a night. I also hate to move it off the sidewalk and drive way.

I have a plow guy for the driveway, and the sidewalk and deck give me a chance to snag a beer, and head out to pretend to do some work. I know about lake effect snow. It can snow for days, with nothing but wind coming off the lake. Are you near Buffalo New York?

Ah, lake effect snow. Got up this morning to drive one hour to a nearby town, looking for an apartment for my son's co-op term next year. Scattered clouds here, about 0C. Sky got cloudier and cloudier as we headed north east, in to the lee of Lake Huron. Started snowing just before we got to the town. Left there about noon, could barely see across the road by then. Several near misses as people around us lost control, inched out of town on the dead slow. Couldn't tell where the lanes were, saw several cars in the ditch. Half way home, the snow stops, the sun comes out. We get home to find blue skies and no snow anywhere - except on our car.

But back on topic. Just poured a large snort of Grant's Sherry Cask Aged Scotch, soon to be followed by a beer chaser. Or two.

a lot of four by four drivers get them for show, but don't realize you still need to drive them, in snow they will be just as out of control as a normal drive cars, and with inexsperienced drivers much worse as they are 3 time the weight.

Hey, geeks are allowed to be romantic. They just do it differently.

I think it's time for a cold beer! It was a long day at work, and I can fix computers while having a beer!

That sounds really good! :) I admit that I only have a domestic, Belgian owned, Budweiser at hand, but I'm enjoying them just the same.

Brits trapped in pub for almost a week

Two pub patrons and five employees have been stuck inside the Lion Inn in Blakey Ridge, located in the North York Moors National Park, 185 km northeast of Manchester, England, since being snowed in Nov. 28.

I'd just like to thank Steve for setting up this thread for all us boozers, and playing along with us. Maybe someday we will all give up the drink like you did Steve. Cheers!

Ah December has rolled around, and in Canada that means dark seasonal beers are coming out. Had some Sleeman's Porter on the weekend, very nice. When the roads improve a bit I must go out and see what else is new in the beer store. This is way better than that other holiday in December.
