DougvE,
For the first part, those doing the list of donations on here just haven't caught it yet. As for the second question, Berkeley is having a problem with their donations page. The donation should have got through but it may take some manual intervention to get it to show up. Someone else had a problem like yours and contacted the donations department. That was their reply. It was taken care of with no problem.

I know this might be considered OT, but I was wondering how much longer the OP would be on "vacation." I'm surprised it's been this long already.

Evening All

Thank You, for your Contributions!

A bit of history about when the Green Star shows up and information is posted to your personal page.

Donations are handled by UC Berkeley. They have the setup to handle your card information safely. The script that handles the Donation emails information to Seti. The Script then parses the information to put the green star on your account and post the information to the total which then gets stored in the Boinc Master Database. At times it has problems. Currently, it appears it being ran manually before other things are turned back on (so that it does not interfere with other higher priority operations).

What this means is with the Boinc Database having issues, things are getting slowed down.

All we can do is be patient.

Thank You

Regards

Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project.

Might this be an opportune time to split the "admin" type tasks like tracking donations and the forum from the main database on server that is not part of the main database? Thus if the big boys go for a holiday these "lesser" functions can be maintained - in the recent problems it would have been nice to see the news and throw suggestions onto the fire without fear of upsetting the repair work.

FYI it takes a bit for the UC Donations office to do it's thing. Just this week I got the snail mail confirmation of my donation in the first fund drive, the one for Oscar.

We'll have to thank the Acatemy for this Oscar and for His Twin. :D

Make sure to direct your Gift to go to SETI or it goes into the general college fund to be divided equally between Departments if I remember correctly.

I guess I did it correctly. The email receipt says "Thank you for your gift to the SETI@home."

The thing that had me worried was the lack of a place to "select" SETI@Home. I suppose that was "assumed" by the URL I followed.

Thank you for your on going contributions Byron, but it makes me wonder if the merchant fees charged by the credit card companies are a flat fee or a percentage of each transaction.

Does anybody know?

Always by percentage of the total transaction - and sometimes an additional per transaction fee too.

My business accepts credit cards and they all operate the same.

Universally both. First is a verification fee for checking that the card is good and giving the authorization number; the second is a percent of the transaction. There is also a minimum monthly fee but I'm sure that the Regents do more than the minimum.
