You should have seen the last heat wave. And I was stuck in 15 degree Yorkshire. Besides we didn't leave enough standing of the Wall. The pieces make for a nice souvenir though (you can buy them mounted, colour from graffiti optional...)

@tullio, Askhod? I couldn't get a meaningful google hit, but no.

All, now at work, if I get time at lunch I'll zoom out that view so a bit more of the sign shows.

The Iraq embassy in Kuwait?

No. But that would be poetic justice.

Hint: the person ultimately responsible for the damage and deaths has been hanged.

Not friendly fire. He wasn't hanged for this, but another crime. He hung on December 30 2006. Everyone knows his name.

OK, I found a small article on it (with the picture posted above it).

The Qurain House
From the personal collection of my friend Adel al Yousifi.

Kuwait's lone monument of the Iraqi invasion is the Qurain House. During the period of occupation the Iraqis raped and looted the Kuwaitis on a daily basis. In this house, 19 Kuwaiti civilians made a stand against the Iraqi forces in a 10-hour battle that eventually included about 700 Iraqi soldiers laying siege to the house with tanks and guns. Seven Kuwaitis survived the attack. Now called the Qurain House, the building stands untouched as a museum-like memorial. Shattered plaster littering the floor and dried blood spattered on the wall serve as reminders of the Kuwait resistance. The house has been left exactly as it was on that day, a shrine to the bravery of the Kuwaiti people.
