I've been here almost since the beginning, but didn't know about the boards until this January. I crunched in oblivian for all those years without really understanding much about the system or when it had troubles. I was truly impressed by how well the servers did with this recent onslaught. This search may take thousands of years, and technology will advance during that time assuming man doesn't destroy himself. I am very happy to be a part of that search, and will crunch till the last wu is passed out or I drop dead. Anyway the servers did very well, and if the SETI crew needs a few days to put things in order, then what they did with the last outage was fantastic. I am looking forward to what ever happens. By the way, I'm an optimist! :)

maybe the mass migration to other projects
will help in the long run..
less stress on the servers and less demand for
current up to date signal data.

then there are my other opinions that are left better
unspoken.

LOL, that should do. BOINC 5.2.12 and 5.4.11 have the resume capability. On my dial-up line it's not just nice, it's a necessity.

If my recollection isn't too fuzzy, even v4-clients did download-resuming...

But, there's been many examples with resuming being broken in spesific versions, too many for me to remember every version, so it's possible to hit a "bad" one even earlier and later clients works as they should.

The most resent example is some of the v6.10.3x-clients and maybe older v6.10.xx-clients also, didn't correctly handle upload-resuming.

There's no mass migration going on here. It's just a lot of whining and lack of patience.

Yeah, I count about half a dozen that have "quit" over the last few months but are still here.

I fear thinking about that some of those whining people with no patience, actually may even be gun owners....

Tell me about it. I live right next to 250 million of them.

Alright, that's enough. I'm going in and clean my guns. Let me know when we get back to crunching!
