In that case I go with my initial hunch and say it's somewhere in the Dolomiti :)

Not necessarily. Italy has mountains from Alpi Giulie at East, Dolomiti, Alpi Centrali and the great Alpi Occidentali with Cervino (Matterhorn), Monte Rosa, Monte Bianco. I have climbed mostly in Alpi Giulie and Dolomiti, with an occasional trip to Alpi Occidentali. No, the place is a seaside resort in Riviera di Ponente (Mar Tirreno), with many "palestre di roccia" (climbing grounds). I once met there a guide from Chamonix with his girl going to a climb. We found we had friends in common. Mountaineers are all friends.

I believe that Hotel "old walls" is probably outside the old walls of the town (whatever town it is).

Almost looks like an old school, maybe a dorm.

Looks like a tribunal to me, where maybe Franz Kafka is waiting for a process which will never come.

You mean a haunted place? But they are mostly castles and this is not a castle.

It is number 5 on the "10 most haunted houses in the world" list at thecontaminated.com (is that cheating?)

Raynham Hall in Norfolk, England.

Nope, manually looking for matching images is fine, John found my Teahouse by scanning through a list of world heritage gardens ;)

Following a request from my brother in Genoa, who has a Spanish wife, I found the home page of a School in Bath, England, for a young relative of her in about 10 minutes. His parents wanted to know more about the school. I downloaded the home page of the School, printed it on my printer, and sent it to my brother, who has no PC, by snail mail. But it takes only one day from here to Genoa.

OK, here is a real toughie. A clue to start with: a win goes to whoever can name the group of buildings where this is found. Bonus points to anybody who can name the building.

I will start by guessing that the head is located on a building that has something to do with education. Some university somewhere in Canada perhaps.

Good guess.

Too long without a guess, time for another clue.

Yes, it is a university. The head is far enough off the ground that it would take quite a bit of work to place those butts. The building must be either a phys-ed faculty, or an engineering faculty.

Supposed to be old and dignified as well, if somebody felt the need to do such a joke.

Putting cigarettes in the mouth of an "impossible-to-reach" statue sounds like something those pesky "engineers" aka university engineering department students would do as a prank. Last year in Vancouver the UBC engineers tried to hang a volkswagon beetle off the Second Narrows bridge; which got dropped in the narrows. (Oopsie). Waaay back when at the University of Western Ontario the UWO engineers hung a volkswagon beetle off the top of Middlesex College clock tower.

Which brings me to the current challenge. My guess is the Physics and Astronomy building at the University of Western Ontario.

Point one - its been a long time, I'll give the win to Peter with UWO.

Point two - it is actually the Spencer building, Faculty of Engineering, at UWO.

Point three - in my freshman year at NIT the graduating class cut a VW into pieces, hauled it up to the third floor of the the library in the freight elevator, and tack welded it back together.

Point four - take it away PETER!

Thanks Bill. I remember the 'gargoyles' on the Physics building but I was never allowed in Engineering. When I'm back next I will make sure to take a look for your 'smoking graduate' hee hee.

On to the next challenge. Something easy I think.
Here's a pic of a hole in the ground. Something a little more famously "Canadian". The mined product is a native non-metal. The question is: Name the Mine.
