Just curious what motivated this, Since it is not a reply to anyone.

So.. even though the complaints did get people to look at what was happening, even though the response has been a bit minimal.. it was at least honest. But you have not chased enough people out the door yet?

I give you an A+ on effort.. But I am curious on your motivation. I mean, it can not be to create a more positive atmosphere, because this is more negative than anything I have posted. And I give no pretense to blind loyalty.

Well, I'm not going to detach, but I will just run my caches down and not re-fill them.

New Outage Schedule
Starting next week our servers will be turned off for several days a week - initially, Tuesday through Thursday. This will allow us to devote more time to scientific development.

Apparently, there are just too many people crunching for SETI@home (what a problem to have), and they don't need my puny contributions. Heck, they don't need anything from anybody three days a week (maybe more). It's going to be fun trying to get more work after a three day outage (maybe more); they can do their science better when no one is bothering them with silly questions about why the servers are down, why results return computation errors, why, why, why is it that . . .

Matt has pretty much given up posting Technical News, and no one else is helping with any regularity. There doesn't seem to be much to tell except that the old equipment they are using is pretty regularly broken.

Anyway, this will leave a small fraction more work for the "power-crunchers", of which I am not one. Oh, heck, I may leave one machine crunching, just so I can participate in these boards when someone pisses me off in Politics, but if I do, it won't run 24/7. My wife will be happy about that and my electric bill will certainly show the difference.

You can still crunch what you can get, 24/7 if you get enough. BOINC will look after all that. Just make sure you have an extra project or two attached.
