A hadith: " the Men(People) are equal in front of God, such the teeth of the comb ". Muhammad SAW.
Thus I do not see how the blind men(people) can consider, raise(bring up) or lower, another man, not on the size(cutting), but on the feelings which are invisible to the men(people). it's the one is as well as who considers perfect can throw(cast) the first stone, but has this moment, all remember their sins, and drop their stone of stoning.

One cannot believe in a possibility. One can know it or not know it. Belief and knowledge are different concepts for a very good reason.

according to Paul Tillich "faith is man's ultimate concern for the ultimate. Religion is his expression of that concern."

Count me as confused but convinced.

Yes, Virginia, there is a God.

And he watches over me every second of my life.

And I thank him every minute of so for it.

Yes, Virginia......there is a God.

And he is there for you any time you wish to ask him for his help.

Yes, Virginia.......there is a God.

Go to sleep now knowing that he is watching over you and will still be there when you awake.

Yes, Virginia...I know there is a God above.
And whether others believe it or not should not matter to you.
For he does not care what they think.......only what you do.

Yes, Virginia.....there is a God.
And he loves you like only a parent could love their only child.
For that is what you are.

Rest well, Virginia. There IS a God.

Oops, was this a yes or no question?
Sorry for the essay.......
But God thanked me for the answer.

[b][b]Kill Nonbelievers

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

This seems to be in contradiction with what you think msattler. Actually, the Bible is loaded with stories of God ordering the killing of entire civilizations for what they think.

Burn Nonbelievers

"Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it. Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God. That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt. Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors. "The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him." (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT)

I really hope the religious fundamentalists are unsuccessful in their bid to control the house, senate and of course, the lives of all the unbelievers.
Every time the church has had power, bad things have happened.

Robert........

I can't contradict you.

The bible is full of riddles.
And will always be so.

I must believe what I can believe.

That there is a kind and just God who will save my soul when the time comes.

You can believe what you wish.

I take solice in what I understand to be true.

There's the rub.
Which are the true?

http://www.evilbible.com/Biblical%20Contradictions.htm

To base one's life on serial contradictions seems like a wasted life.

There are no riddles unless you make assumptions about it which are not in evidence, which are nothing but religious superstition.

No one knows who wrote the stories, nor why they were written nor when they were written. The simplest objective view is that what you see as riddles are simply evidence of multiple writers without or with only a very poor editor to make them consistent. Not riddles. Sloppy editing.

Think of it a bit like the original Star Trek where continuity and consistency were haphazard at best. Captain Kirk has two different middle names. Were this the bible or some fan activity there would be major effort to make both true. Similary we have sacrifice in many cities centuries after it was declared it could only occur in Jerusalem. The simplest explanation is the people who made up these stories did not care to let consistency get in the way of a good yarn.

I believe in the possibility that God exists.

So? Many things are possible to exist, but just because something is possible to exists doesn't mean that it actually exists. Simply stating "it's possible" is meaningless. Simply saying that you believe in the possibility of the existence of a god does not, in any way, answer whether or not you believe.

I DO.

Yes.

Without question.

Astoundingly, yes.

There is a GOD...
Mine, yours, whatever he or she may be to you.

I cannot and will not accept that humankind just evolved around a little pool of DNA rotting in some little pool of dirt some thousands of years ago.

There is a God.......and he created us for what? I don't know.
Man has questioned that for all of time, and will go on doing so until they finally meet their maker.
That, I cannot answer for you. Or myself.

But rest assured....there IS a God.
