Trevor is cool. Quote from Bigmac who is project (LHC@home) developer, volunteer developer and project scientist.
OK, I see the use of BOINC is probably out of the question now. (Thanks for bursting my bubble Gary!) :) I'll still crunch for them if/when they need volunteers on whatever platform they use.
Thanks! I'll watch it next chance I get. Probably not until Saturday. |

Tell us how you get your connection to Internet2. Some of us are speed freaks. I think the only way to help at this point is to cut a check. ![]() |

If you REALLY want to know. I rented a trencher and spent over a year cutting a trench between my house and the nearest community college ten miles away. Then I ran weather insulated cat5 cable and spliced into the network via an 100 yard underground tunnel. Many illegal aliens died digging that tunnel, Gary, and I'm not ashamed to say it was worth it. I have an amazing kick a** Internet connection! :) |

You really should have installed at least Cat6e. Cat5 just isn't rated for high enough speeds for Internet2... |

I heard the way to use school internet was to run a cable across and down the middle of the street. You can put up some really big BOINC numbers doing that. Allegedly. me@rescam.org |

Nothing ever gets past you guys here. lol To tell the truth, the story was totally fabricated.. Yes, I know it's hard to believe I would lie about anything! I'm just as shocked as you are.. LOL And I didn't know enough about networking cable to know cat5 cable wouldn't work with Internet2. |

The electromechanical induction caused by the moving vehicles pushes the data along the cable at a faster rate than normally possible? That must be how Berkeley does it. |

I heard the way to use school internet was to run a cable across and down the middle of the street. You can put up some really big BOINC numbers doing that. Allegedly. That depends if you're using string or rope. me@rescam.org |

They use it on violins so it obviously carries sound great. Personally, I wouldn't play an instrument that uses cat guts. It's just wrong.. |
