Given the length of the Tuesday outage, and the length of time the system was only partly functioning after the outage, the backlog should clear sometime in the next 6 hours or so.
That's my guess anyway.

Poor old Cricket... :)
I'd really like to know who (or what) is clogging the bandwidth for nearly
half a day, while most of us can't upload thus can't trigger any download ?!

Hi!

Just wanna add that I tried everything above, flushing dns, switching log flags etc. and still BOINC says "Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down."

Regards, Michael

@ Michael C. Mueller

No.. the servers are not down.. like you see on the graph.. ;-)

'Only' too much traffic in Berkeley, so not all client can connect well.

[TRANSLATED]Turning the MODEM/ROUTER off & on won't probably do nothing.

Hi, no luck in UP- and DOWN-Loading so far.

Tried all given solutions, so I'll wait, it's quite warm/hot (25C), anyway ;^)

Hope they find a solution before the weekend . . .

Inside my PC it's still 70 degrees Celsius :) But not for long. The last Cuda is being processed and there are only 9 MB's left. Then, it's over and out (of work). Ten year's of experience and this is the result. Very disappointing.

Routers, DNS and so on are so yesterday's problem.

Today's problem is the old "hundred megabits down the hill is not enough at peak flow times".

If there was at least some noticeable progress (just that would make me really happy). I can only see the second db catching up a little bit, but that has nothing to do with the network traffic issue (AFAIK).

Other issue: 4 channels of AP's in progress, splitters are up, but the creation rate says "NULL/sec". How's that?

I reckon that's noticeable progress.....

In my case, I have an old P4 Northwood server (small L2 cache) which isn't very efficient at SETI, so it does 75% Einstein. Einstein is down, so it has requested (and received) extra SETI work as the Einstein cache depletes.

That's only progress in time :) For the rest, nothing is happening. I would like to see the green go down and the blue go up. BTW, is there anybody who is able to upload or download something yet? Just a few yes's would already put me in a hopeful mood.

Upload: No, 119 transfers waiting
Downloads: Yes, no problems, but had to add this line to my hosts file first.

I did all the recommended steps Downloading fine. Can't upload anything. Keep getting the HTTP error. I assume this is due to the massive amount of downloading going on

Just in case some have not seen this suggestion, I am copying it here as a very serious suggestion for trying to keep the temperature here down occasionally and to stop those unused to our occasional logjam problems getting too upset at the whole thing!

Seems like there are a lot of frustrated people on these threads. There's no right or wrong way to feel about these outages. We're kind of a special case. At the core we're an academic project with no deadlines - normally nobody gets hurt if science is delayed a day or a month or a decade. On the other hand, we're forced to be "professional" since we're asking for various forms of support from many thousands of people, and you can't have that large a number of people involved without some sort of professional grade management and public relations. It's a daily puzzle marrying the two completely separate worlds.

- Matt

These wise words should be placed at the top of the NC board permanently. This is a serious proposal. It could save a large proportion of the unhappiness.

Nope.... didn't work. The ...download_fanout URL didn't show up in the messages, therefore all following steps couldn't be taken.

you can find the URL in your client_state.xml file if you search for the WU name. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO SAVE THE FILE WHEN YOU EXIT OR BOINC WILL GO BONKERS!
