Message 922306 - Posted: 30 Jul 2009, 0:52:45 UTC - in response to Message 922294.

hehe..

Well.. I drink coffee all the time - day and night..
I drink Baileys as often as possible, and eat
chocolate of chocolate cake more often than possible.

..and yes.. I am in the Star team.. hehe -

Dont feel sorry for me.. Those things makes me happy.
..and I dont think I fit into Vextors ideas there.. lol ;-))

LOVE good coffee - limit myself to one in the early morning so I can function during the day, sleep at night and get up VERY early and do the same the next morning. I am a chocolate pig so I seldom have it in my home or I would overdose - and I limit my consumption to ecologically sound chocolate. Very expensive and therefore another inhibitor to my LOVE of chocolate. And Bailey's is great - and rarely purchased and consumed by me - my personal efforts to avoid addiction.
Therefore, understand, my "laughing out loud" response to the "Breakfast of Champions".

Coffee, chocolate, and Baileys . . . breakfast of champions.

With all due respect, champions of WHAT???? I had to laugh - out loud - and ask.

It's a joke!

I got that - that is why I was laughing out loud! But I still wanted and want to know what champions the jokester was proposing would eat that!
By the way, still laughing every time I see the photos.

As a joke, it does not need to be explained. Otherwise it was a failure as a joke, if it does. ROTFLMAO!

Someone at work mentioned today, that I lost weight and would disappear soon. With all the chocolate cake, how is that possible?

The trick is to cut it several hours before you eat it, that way most of the calories have leaked out! :)

Carlos,
It may not be the breakfast of champions, but it sure helps someone who tried to be the champ the night before.

Have fun

It's a traditional Mexican breakfast soup called menudo. While it's ingredients vary from one region of Mexico to another it's main ingredient is beef tripe, aka beef stomach.

When Wheaties came up with their advertising campaign about being the breakfast of champions. Someone started a joke that Menudo was the breakfast of champions. Menudo is usually only eaten by Mexicans. There seems to be an aversion among the white western-european descendent population towards eating cows stomach soup. Having grown up in Southern California there is a significant Hispanic population. As part of the 60’s and 70’s Hispanic movement the joke became a catch phrase for Mexican equality. The phrase is still seen today on tee shirts and poster in many parts of the South Western US.
Oh and it is recognized as a hang over remedy. It’s really quite good. You just have to get over the aversion to eating cow stomach and, depending on the region, possibly also pork knuckles.

Here is a good recipe and a little history about it.

Carlos,
Thank you, for the recipe for Menudo, I could get it in several places in Las Vegas, and in Southern California when I was growing up. I find that most people who like Mexican spices will like Menudo if they do not know what it is. It was usually available on the weekends when is is needed most, and seeing how long it takes to prepare I now under why it is not always available.

Have fun

That sounds like a very savoury food for breakfast. I grew up on a farm, where we used to slaughter and use everything from the animal. My Mother would prepare Casseroles with a lot of the offal. The best thing she made was Black Pudding (Blood Sausage), which is basically congealed pigs blood with some pepper and cereals to bind it when it is boiled and reduced. Its then poured into a short length of intestine and cooked (That's how mum made it anyway). It might sound bad to some, but it is damn tasty!!!

After writing that last night, I had it for breakfast this morning. There is a canned version that you just heat and serve called Menudito You can order from this link if you want to try it and it's not sold locally. Around here it's available just about anywhere.

PS: I like what you did to your Avatar Princess.
