I just built this computer and downloaded all the new drivers, and then newest boinc version, but boinc is only reading 1 cuda. How do I fix this? I read on another thread something about the registry, but i didn't quite understand it... if you have any suggestions, they are appreciated. |

Do you have them configured in SLI? If so, you'll have to disable SLI to get both recognised. If that's not the problem, I hear there's a situation where Windows disables the second display device if nothing is plugged into it, so you might want to try plugging in a spare monitor, or I've even heard plugging in a cable with nothing on the other ends works too. |

Yes, I have SLI but I use that for video games, otherwise there really isn't a point in having the two (other than boinc;)). So is there a way to do that for boinc but turn it back on automatically for games? |

Never mind, I'll just do it myself. I search for my sli controls, and it wasn't as complicated as i remembered. |

I disabled sli and restarted and had boinc reread the config file, but it is still only coming up with 1 cuda. |

Its probably the second problem I mentioned then: Windows may be preventing the detection of the second display device because nothing is plugged in. |

and then newest boinc version Which, I see is 6.6.31, that needs an extra setup switch in cc_config.xml You will need to do the stretching to the second desktop and/or add a second monitor/dummy VGA plug first. But then BOINC still won't detect all GPUs, due to the developers not wanting your system to overload itself and slow down (which will happen when you get a very low angle rate task (so called VLAR) task on the GPUs). To use all GPUs, write a cc_config.xml file in your BOINC Data directory. This file isn't there by default, you have to write it. Use Notepad or something similar, making sure the extension on the file is .xml, not .txt or .doc etc. Add into the cc_config.xml the following lines: <cc_config> <options> <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> </options> </cc_config> As said, save to the BOINC Data directory. Then exit BOINC and restart it. |

How do you get into the directory Copy the path from the Messages tab (it's listed there at startup) in BOINC manager to the address field of Windows explorer and hit return. The default directory is hidden by default. It is located at C:\ProgramData\BOINC (note C:\Program Files). To get there, open up your computer by clicking on Start -> Computer -> [double click your hard drive icon] -> then type the path I gave you above into the address bar. |

I still don't have the slightest idea how to do it. sorry. From BOINC manager, go to Advanced View, click the Messages tab. The fourth line will list the data directory - C:\ProgramData\BOINC by default for Windows 7. Start Windows Explorer and type or paste this into the address bar. This is the folder where the cc_config.xml file belongs. -- Classic 82353 WU / 400979 h |

Okay, I wrote the file (I realized I had been in the directory before, but didn't realize that that was it. lol.). I followed all of Jord's directions with the exception of the second monitor/dummy vga plug. Is there any way around that, because despite the file it still only recognizes one cuda. |

file was written and i've tried four different vga plugs (they didn't have a cord plugged in at the other end though) and it still only comes up with one cuda. I restarted my computer after each seperate try too. I'm not sure what more I can do. |

NEVER MIND. IT WORKS!!!!! The dummy vga wasn't enough; I had to rummage through my leftover parts and find a cable and the compatible vga, connect it to my video card and then the monitor, powered the computer up, and there it goes crunching two tasks at once. Thanks a lot for all the help, I couldn't have figured it out without you guys. |
