Another short note just to check in. Good news is that I finally was able to get more than just 1 or 2 files up from HPSS for Astropulse to chew on. In fact, I got 4 files! Well, that's still not very much, but more are on the way. We'll really have to get crackin' on the data recorder issues once this week is through. It also seems that we have continuing problem with these difficult web queries clobbering us from time to time. I put a "hack" in place yesterday that I thought was helping, but Dave noted our problem may be from persistent mysql connections. Since php is embedded in apache, whenever it starts up it opens a database connection and keeps it open through multiple page requests. While we put explicit code to use the replica on the result pages, apparently php won't flip from master to replica (or vice versa) during these persistent connections, so we need better logic to handle all that. In the meantime it seems like we're in another ugly long query phase clogging the pipes. Still very annoying. This is my last tech news item until next week, probably. Will be busy tomorrow with the big event and all. - Matt -- BOINC/SETI@home network/web/science/development person -- "Any idiot can have a good idea. What is hard is to do it." - Jeanne-Claude |

Are you ready for a little side-concert on the Picnic and handing out autographs afterwards? Stock up on pens, markers and pencils. You may need them. ;-) |

'Happy birthday' to the 10th from the whole team seti.international . It's looking like the replica database is offline since 22 May 2009 16:52:33 UTC. Although if you celebrate the SETI@home birthday.. with BBQ and some [alcohol/non alcohol ;-)] drinks.. maybe it's possible to 'kick' the server? :-) Cheers. :-) EDIT: BTW. In the NC forum the panic 'spread'.. ;-) |

I can manage without stats and tables just as long as work keeps getting to me and I can send results back. That is happening OK so everything that matters is actually working and certainly my RAC figure keeps changing so things are definitely OK back at the ranch. We just can't see what's going on. Just wait to see the huge boost in credit come Tuesday! |

As of 13:00 CDT the replica seems to be running again. Just a matter of time until the results show up on the user pages. Happy memorial day, congratulations to a great landing of STS 125 and congratulations to Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello (and his birthday yesterday) and BrawnGP to their 1-2 win in Monaco. oh, and happy belated birthday, Seti at Home! Here's to hoping AP chews on lots of data this week. My q6600 is ready to chew on some results. |
