Hi Get the error `no work from project' even though my other 2 computers here are still happily churning away. Is this just because I need to change the amount of work downloaded to my HDD, or some other error? This computer: Toshiba Satellite PIII 850Mhz, WinXP. Connection is 512 ADSL Cheers |

If this is a new computer [added] somtimetime it takes a while to get a hoist id for it. Like waiting in line. does your message have a hoist id? After a it gets a id the first time it may take sometime before it receives a wu. The project maybe temporary out of work. Alpha Tester Beta Tester |

But none of them has yet to get a WU after like 24hrs. Any ideas? |

There is currently a shortage of WU. If you want to keep your computers busy doing some science when SETI is down, you can also attach to http://predictor.scripps.edu/. Create an account there, and go to the Settings/Attach menu in your GUI when the email message arrives. If you want to use this is an emergency backup only, set your resource share for this project very low. ![]() |

So 24+ hours is normal? For something that is going to take 4 hours to complete (if I've read this right)? Thank you for your information, I set this up yesterday afternoon, left it running overnight and all day today, and have yet to get any "work" to do. I was beginning to think I had something set up wrong. Thanks again. > If this is a new computer [added] somtimetime it takes a while to get a hoist > id for it. I am getting the same thing: --- - 2004-07-06 22:19:08 - Fewer active results than CPUs; requesting more work SETI@home - 2004-07-06 22:19:08 - Requesting 171799 seconds of work SETI@home - 2004-07-06 22:19:08 - Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi SETI@home - 2004-07-06 22:19:11 - Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded SETI@home - 2004-07-06 22:19:11 - Message from server: No work available SETI@home - 2004-07-06 22:19:11 - No work from project SETI@home - 2004-07-06 22:19:11 - Deferring communication with project for 1 hours, 0 minutes, and 0 seconds Been doing this for 2 days now. |

This is just driving me nuts because I guess the thing that SETI BOINC doesn't realise is that some of us still live on a modem, and can't wait on the phone line for 24+ hours in line for a darn wu! That's what I like about SETI Classic... if you need it, you can dial up and have it. Ok, sorry, I understand about the shortage and all, but people like me are being left in the dust and may never see a wu in our lives *_* ! Sorry again (& peace), Eric |

Well nearly the same for me.. i was doing SaH classic since 2000 or 1999 ? dont know, but now i came to Seti Boinc... well This is the thing i usually get when updating my Seti@Home Project in hope to get WUs... SETI@home - 2004-07-07 11:22:43 - Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi SETI@home - 2004-07-07 11:22:51 - Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded And thats it... My Ressourceshare is 50, workunits poer day or whatever is set to .5 to 1 and i've got plenty of space on my comp so... may it be related to the fact that I use BOINC also with Predictor@Home ? This one got 4 Workunits and is going really well... |

Looks like the WU's are starting to flow again. I've gotten a bunch in the last day or two. Hopefully we will have a steady stream of work soon!! |

Hopefully we will have a steady stream of work soon!! > > Sorry, but I still haven't got the impression that WU's are available again. Furthermore, quite annoying is the fact that on my new computer I'm trying to provide with WU's, after the answer 'no work available' the BOINC program states that the URL or account ID is incorrect, so I have to paste them in over and over again... I would appreciate very much on the SetiWeb site a SERVER STATUS link, like the SetiAtHome Classic site has, so I can see if there WU's available for download or not, or if there are any other problems that block the upload/download process. Can this be arranged? Regards, Joop. |

I have yet to recieve any WUs from Seti servers since I signed up with BOINC a few days ago. Anyone know of special commands or procedures that could be used to get some WUs? |

No other URL is going to give you work. Try detaching, and reattaching. ![]() |

Thanks everyone for your advice. I think in the first instance I was just getting impatient, but I understand that there have been some fun and games over the last 2 weeks, after updating and reattaching, so I'm just going to keep everything running, and when the the units come, they come. Cheers |

Thanks, but that is exactly the URL I attach with. I've tried detaching and attaching like you suggested, but still no WUs will download. Then I try right-clicking on the SETI project and issuing the "Update" command. The only messages I get are the following, and nothing else happens. SETI@home - 2004-07-08 21:53:37 - Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi SETI@home - 2004-07-08 21:53:40 - Scheduler RPC to http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help. |

Seems like some people got lost? I have read about this same problem in a few other forums, all of us don't get a "no work"-message or anything, just "scheduler succeeded". I'm also using Predictor, may be an error either with that or with transferring the old SETI Classic accounts to BOINC. But I don't know how to solve that. :( As I heard servers should now send out normally? |

Ok...now that I figured the URL problem....just type in the SETIATHOME.... forget the http:...and the WU's will flow. See ya l8r! |

Unfortunately this doesn't solve the scheduler issue. :( |

> I'm also using Predictor, may be an error either with that or with > transferring the old SETI Classic accounts to BOINC. But I don't know how to > solve that. :( > This is why you are not getting S@H WUs. If the queue is full of predictor WUs, then it will not get S@H WUs. If you have benn running S@H for a few weeks, you can expect to run Predictor WUs for a couple of weeks until the average CPU usage averages out. If you have set predictor higher than S@H, the time to average out will be longer, and if you have Predictor set lower than S@H, it will average out sooner. The experience is that a new project seems to take 1-4 weeks to catch up if the older projects have reached a steady state. ![]() |
