Does the credit for Astropulse take longer to come through as opposed to the standard credit for work completed ? Cheers Daryl |

Does the credit for Astropulse take longer to come through as opposed to the standard credit for work completed ? Only if you're paired with a slow wingmate. It takes two to earn credit - you must both have finished and reported before it happens. If you're first back, you have to wait: if you're second back, the other person will have been waiting for you. |

Me being a slow wingmate, After 8 days of doing AP v5.3 I get antsy also. thats why after my 4th straight AP i turned that selection off. This old P4 is to slow for those big jobs. And it seems most guys im a wingman to have quad 4 running Apt opps. So in 176 more hours the old workhorse will run MB and or Milkyway@home. Till i get a new comp. or rebuild this one with that i7 baby:) ![]() Old James |

The average from what I have seen is closer to 3-4x for the majority of those who use these apps. Myself, I'm running about 4.3x. 51 hours is much more acceptable than 220 with stock. Does the credit for Astropulse take longer to come through as opposed to the standard credit for work completed ? Show Crefit - or show Stats???????? if YOU are wing, then you get credit when you report - HOWEVER - it may take a day or two for your stats to show any AP. (thats what happens when I Report) - If you are first to report - please be prepared to wait for the ice event that has been mentioned in prophhecy and add the extra day for the stats. ![]() ![]() Classic WU= 7,237 Classic Hours= 42,079 |

Does the credit for Astropulse take longer to come through as opposed to the standard credit for work completed ? That's assuming you and your quorum partner agree on the results turned in. :) |

The title of the thread is aptly named for my question: - I have no objection to running AP, in fact have already reported in on several & still have more crunching. What I'd like to know is What incentive is there to run AP? I've had one report in after eight & a half days claiming a credit of 1,293, only to be rewarded with 839. At that rate on my farm, I would accumualte a total of 10k a week, whereas with Enhanced, I would accumulate 24k or more. Surely, to have more people crunch AP, it would be wise to have credit parity? |

The title of the thread is aptly named for my question: - On the average computer the credits for the latest AP tasks is probably correct. Saying that there is a big difference in performance between Intel cpu's with large L2 cache and the latest AMD cpu's, that includes X2's. In general if an AMD and Intel cpu have similar benchmarks an Intel core2, or newer, will be at least twice as fast as the AMD, doing AP tasks. So knowing you are a mainly AMD guy, you will see the credits as being low for the hours crunched. It is also one of the reasons for installing the optimised apps, the increase in performance is very, very good. Expect a minimum of three times the performance of the default app. |

Even on an Opteron 2210 (1.8), I'm pulling about 0.07 credits/sec with ap_v5 (r112). Takes ~50 hours to burn through. AK_v8 for MB only gives me about 0.045. True it takes longer to crunch, and you won't get the credit as quickly, but in the long run, it's better to run ap_v5. So for example, if someone cared about the RAC (which I do not), they would if indeed taking longer, benefit from running AP_5 to get a higher RAC as credits granted are higher than Enhanced with an optimized app? I run r112 which on my rig (core2duo 2.13gHz) and it takes about 40 hours to process an ap_v5 5.03 workunit, however credit is near 1216 per unit. Overall RAC would increase a lot over time given the extra credits? Correct me someone if I have misunderstood. ![]() |

I'm pulling about 0.07 credits/sec this one is my best one on my main cruncher Claimed credit 1212.56827637462 CPU time 161403.1 1212.56827637462 / 161403.1 = 0.0075126703 Alright, yeah. I did overlook there being two zeroes before the significant digits begin. ak_v8 SSE3 does need an extra leading zero, too.. so 0.007 for AP, 0.0045 for MB. AP gives more credits. Right now my RAC on my AP machine is lower than on my MB machine due to the longer time it takes for the wingmen to return AP WUs, even though my total credit on my AP machine is higher. Plus, the AP computer is a faster computer. Both are using opt apps: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/hosts_user.php?userid=652775 |
