My 2c
The financial moguls lived on high risk high gain policies
Then it all went to plop
now they want public money to bail them out so that they can continue to make disgusting amounts of profit from non real systems
I know its bad, but its good that they got hit, and made the big boys come down to earth with a bang.
Billions got wiped off the markets, based on futures, derivetives and ways of making money from money that dosent realy exist.
those of us that never had it in the first place dont get hit anything like as hard, `the bigger they are the harder they fall`
They knew it was high risk, some financial advisors got fired for saying `play it safe` two or three years ago, just because it did`nt fit in with the company policies at that time, now those that got the boot can laugh at the bankrupts.
My sister used to work for HSBC - Royal bank of scotland, (policy manager in London UK) and got to know that things where going bad years ago, and they had to `let her go` near two years ago, they were warned, but the big wheels just would not slow down, I have no sympathy for the big guns that lost out.

I know that I dont know anywhere near enugh to make a proper and fully reasoned judgment on the mater,
and I am biased against the big institutions,
got rid of my telivision years ago,
