My first day back at work after my little surgically inspired vacation, and the weather on the waters was perfect. :o)))

Sunny, unlimited visibility, seas at less than ½ m. Temperature around +3°C. Like the advertisement says: “Vrooom, Vrooom!”

Sites like TinyURL are to help with limitations such as the 250 character one for the signatures...

I know; I joined Photobucket because of that issue with the pics; I'll try TinyURL for the other things.

OK, that works. Thanks, SJ! Now, I just have to save that code somewhere so I can use it again.

3C, dry & Calm. The expected colder spell next week is looking likely to be proceeded by a warmer spell for a few days \o/

I've just finished having a new heating system installed - Ducted Air Source Heat Pump - So bring on all the cold (or warm) you like now :)

The sun is out here today for the first time in weeks. Temp up to -10C, and with light winds it is almost bearable. Shouldn't get used to it though, the gov'ment weather guys just issued a "special weather statement" for heavy snow tonight. If it gets a little worse, the "special weather statement" becomes a "weather warning".

Just an idea, maybe they could colour code these. You know, "The Current Weather Threat is Orange". Think that would help?

Hot?? Apparently you haven't been to Phoenix, AZ. in their summer! 6% humidity is wet for them. Normal humidity in the summertime is around 2%. The first year I was there (2002), it was 130 in the shade and 2.5% humidity. Their nighttime low averaged 100F at 2am! Glad I moved north to Prescott. We're around 4,000 ft. higher in elevation than them and as a result, our daytime high (in summertime) is about their nighttime low.

Well, it is now a snowfall warning here (I think that is is Weather Threat Mauve).

The worst snow hasn't hit us yet, but I hear it is pretty bad in the small towns south of here. Apparently the snowplow didn't get out in Fingal before the morning rush started, and now both cars are stuck.

Here is the text of the warning, plus local conditions.

"It now appears that heavier snow from this storm will affect a large part of southern Ontario southeast of a line from Lake St Clair to lake Simcoe to the Petawawa area. Snowfall amounts near 15 cm are expected by this evening over areas from Kitchener southwest across London to Windsor. 15 to 20 cm of snow are expected in the Golden Horseshoe into Niagara then northeast across Peterborough to Renfrew. 20 to 25 cm possibly up to 30 cm of snow are expected in eastern Ontario including the national Capital region into the St Lawrence Valley.

Date: 7:00 AM EST Wednesday 28 January 2009
Condition: Light Snow
Pressure: 100.9 kPa
Tendency: falling
Visibility: 3 km

Temperature: -6.9°C
Dewpoint: -8.2°C
Humidity: 90 %
Wind: ENE 13 km/h
Wind Chill: -13
