I had this problem on my linux system (Fedora 10). It all went away when I disabled the MB over clocking. The Asus MB with an AMD 9950 was set for 10% OC. Haven't tried bumping it back up with the latest nvidia drivers. Curt |

I have been crunching CUDA on both of my GeForce 9800 GT in seperate computers. Both GPU's are running about 134 to 138 degrees F. Been running a couple of days now using Raistmer's app version of MB_rev400mod_VLARkill_idle_CUDA.exe. Finally can crunch without giving the computers constant attention. And even better is no failures on the GPU hardware! Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

Same issues here for me. i just stoped running seti on my gaming machine, My display drivers constantly eloaded/ blackscreened and then the snow/artifacts all over. reboot fixxes it, but ive been running GPU grid, and folding @ home without flaw.. Seti's Cuda is the only thing that has caused it thus far. My City |

i just stoped running seti on my gaming machine, Read my post in another thread as to why you're seeing those things while doing things like, oh, gaming. Either run CUDA on your machine or go game, but do not do both at the same time as it's impossible. |

=== UPDATED === I read the FAQ and determined how to run SETI@Home without CUDA support. However, I decided to leave this message on the board in order add another data point. =============== I also want to chime in as I have started to encounter the same "snow" problem since Boinc Manager updated to CUDA support (I am using Boinc Manager 6.4.5 on a Windows Vista Business x32 Sp1). I get a black screen, a display driver restart and 2 times out of 3, "snow". The only way out is to reboot the system. Windows states that it was caused by my drivers... which have been kept current. My video card, an XFX 8800GT, is supported by nVIDIA's current WHQL drivers, version 181.20. However, this problem started with earlier drivers... essentially, when CUDA support was added to the BOINC application. Temperature wise, the GPU hovers between 50C and 65C depending on the load. The highest temperatures I noted were not while running CUDA but CRYSIS. I am using Everest Ultimate to monitor my CPU and GPU temperatures. Question: Is there a way to run SETI@Home on this Vista machine without using CUDA (CPU only)? Unless I missed something very obvious, I cannot find a setting to only use the CPU. Prior to CUDA support, everything was working fine. If I cannot disable CUDA, then I will stop the SETI@Home application as it creates problems. Last comment: I do NOT have this problem if I run GPU Folding@Home in place of SETI@Home. So I wonder if it has something to do with SETI@Home's implementation for CUDA. |

Check for blown capacitors on your 8800GT card. The F277 1500 6.3 volt and the F777 470 1.6 volt rupture out through the "K" scored in the top of the can. Causes all sorts of strange stuff to go on. The new NIVIDIA driver 181.20 seems to have resolved many of the software problems including the blizzard effect.
