I'm running Seti@home on two desktop computers, which run 24 hours a day, and a laptop, that is only on when I need it. I really do not mind running Astropulse on the two laptops, but everytime I get an Astropulse workunit on the laptop, I feel guilty about shutting down the computer because I'm afraid that the workunit will not finish in a timely manner.

Is there someway to stop the laptop from downloading Astropulse, while still downloading the other workunits?

Yes, by setting that laptop to a different venue than the one you're on now and then changing the project preferences on that venue to download only Seti Enhanced work.

To set that laptop to a different venue, go to your list of computers->click on the hostID number link, scroll down to the bottom and change Location from (probably) "---" to "Home".

Now go back to the project preferences and set up separate preferences for the Home venue. Make sure you set "Run only the selected applications" to Seti Enhanced (check, no check on Astropulse) and take the check off of the box behind "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" .. click Update preferences.

You may also want to set up separate computing preferences for the Home venue for that computer. Save those as well.

Now on that laptop open BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Projects tab->Select Seti->Click Update.

That should be it. Unless I forgot something, then someone else will probably say so. ;-)

In your preferences, create two different venues (e.g. Work and Home). Set one venue to allow AstroPulse workunits and place the desktop computers in this venue. Set the other venue to no AP and place the laptop into this venue.

If you need additional help on how to do this, just ask and we'll be happy to assist.
